sdrt
Finally going to post this up now that I have most of the parts to complete the swap and the car is in its home in the garage. I was going to just build the G54b but Ive decided to go a different direction. I’ve been wanting to do this magnum 360/ 5 speed swap for a while in my challenger but I have decided to go a different direction with that car. So…..now this swap is going to make its way in to the conquest. This cars purpose in life is going to mainly be a driver, but it will see plenty of drift time. I sponsor our local drift scene called South Dakota Drift and we have about 4-5 events a year. I do have an introductory thread somewhere here if you want to track the car from day one when I bought it. Here are some pics so far: I’ll start the story here. The day I pulled the G54b and 5 speed out of the car.http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140502_190311_zps89e76a90.jpeg
sdrt
The 1988 Toyota Supra I purchased for the transmission. The car was an original turbo car that someone blew up and swapped in a N/A 3sge in to. The car still had the R154 5 speed tranny in it that I wanted.http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/00r0r_jBosNwZp256_600x4501_zps2d4fd90a.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140517_152649_zps5da606ea.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140517_152538_zps09746b8e.jpg Next I purchased a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup with the Magnum 360 V8. It was easier to buy the complete truck so I could take all of the wiring that I needed to swap in to the quest.http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140629_113748_zpsb3b10dcb.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140810_191417_zps9192ab54.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140906_113622_zpse8d0bb0e.jpg The unfortunate thing about these vehicles is that they both ran and drove, but they didn’t have titles. Both I parted out and hopefully the parts made it to other cars to get back on the road. This is how the car sits today in my garage. I just pulled everything in the garage this weekend to start this project for the winter. I have coilovers and other misc. parts that the car will receive also. I am building this car on a budget so I’m hoping it wont be to slow going.http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140928_164146_zps81f88c96.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140928_164155_zps1929b6dd.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140928_164206_zpsd8145c9e.jpg I’ll keep everyone posted on the project. I’m sure I’ll be asking many questions from the v8 swap people. Edited October 1, 2014 by sdrt

sdrt
.That is going to be sweet! What are your plans for the intake? Stock beer barrel? Yes, the plan is to stick with the stock intake from the truck. There isn’t many options out there for the magnum motor if I want to keep it efi. The whole point of using this motor is to keep the car fuel injected. The barrel is rated well for torque so I’m hoping that will work in my favor. The plan is to get this motor around 300 horse for now and go from there.

sdrt
I agree. I am porting and polishing a set of rebuilt magnum heads I have laying around. This way I can just swap out the ones on the motor with the new ones. Hopefully I will pick up a few HP's with them.

sdrt
A little update since its been a while. The car is pretty close to a shell at the moment. I have been working on the suspension lately while I am waiting on the new oil pan and pickup to get here. I needed a car pan to mock the motor in. I picked up a pair of Sparco seats that I will have to adapt the stock seat bracket to. Once I get the suspension back together I will be cutting the front of the car off to the frame. This will fix all the damage up front and allow me to put in wheel tubs for more angle on the steering. I had some issues with this last drift season. The plans are to get a cage in within the next couple of weeks to I can get the interior back together. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150307_154800_zpsr8v9gxvp.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150307_154838_zps12aah4hy.jpg http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150315_150927_zpsh6gimrmd.jpg You will have to look past the trashed garage. We did alot of work that day and not a ton of care was given in the cleanliness. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150315_193011_zpswzr175iv.jpg I am still having problems figuring out the efi situation. There are multiple people that have done this swap on the interwebs but hardly anyone has a write up on how they wired the ECU and engine harness. Looks like I will be busting out the wiring diagrams for both vehicles. More to come.

sdrt
Looks like it's been a while since I have updated so I'll throw up a few pics of the car so far. There are still a few questions I need answered but I think most of the car has been figured out. Enjoy http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150321_154233_zpsptezzmc3.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150322_175437_zpsfdetmzpt.jpg Pretty close to finished product here. I did get some rear camber plates and I put the spacers in the front camber plates that are not shown here.http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150426_115649_zpship1ao95.jpg
sdrt
Cleaned up the used camber plates and took them apart to grease. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150426_173851_zpst1bmws8d.jpg New pressure plate http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150401_193415_zpsu0t50lg2.jpg Test fitting motor and tranny together. sdrt
I had to partially cut the tunnel to get the tranny to fit. I probably could have "massaged" it but I would rather build my own. As you can see from the pictures I'm going to have a problem with the slave cylinder. Its right in the way of the gas pedal. I'm trying to find out if someone makes a different one or if I'm going to have to move the pedals. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_202516_zpsnwdeyxxl.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_202620_zpsu6zq75a9.jpg Test fitting the wheels. They are 18x11. These are not the wheels and tires going on the car but are similar in size and back spacing. I will not stretch my tires this far. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204316_zps8olb8ru5.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204322_zps3thoejjm.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204356_zpsms4ibejo.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204402_zpspothcsco.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204418_zps82edzceh.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150702_204333_zpsedpmbkwv.jpg

sdrt
Yes the car is coming along. At this point I should have just built the G54 but no turning back now. The wheels are 18x11 ssr agle strusse.
sdrt
Put the coilover assembly on to measure tire and wheel fitment. Both front and rear wheels are the same. 18x11. I don't believe I will go the wide up front. It kinda looks funny. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150706_210130_zpsn4fo67rx.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150706_210113_zps0lshqphq.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150706_205637_zps3fcx6xis.jpghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20150706_210242_zps2in557v3.jpg

IntercooledFlatty
MOPAR FTMFW i'm diggin' this build dood i'd cut the trans tunnel & floor up to the frame rail and build a house/console. you could always take it out for service, adjustments, etc. i'd also go with a rack for steering. easy for me to say looking back
sdrt
Thanks guys, it has turned in to quite the project. I think I may do something similar with the tranny tunnel. My main concern there is the slave cylinder is in a pretty terrible spot. As for steering, I would love to swap over to a rack but around here they are a little harder to come by. Not to many parts cars to steel it from. I am running in to the same problem you have in your write up. The exhaust on the drivers side is becoming a problem. I’m either going to have to go your route or try and swap sides with the magnum manifolds and run the drivers side over to the passenger side and run one larger pipe out the rear.
