TexasQuest
*BEFORE REMOVING ANY COMPONENTS DISCHARGE THE A/C SYSTEM* Start by removing the lower dash panel and glove-box assembly retainer screws from the cross bar. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1128_zps4e204e01.jpghttp://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1127_zps942b2091.jpg Then remove the passenger side inner kick panel for better access. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1126_zps744c26dc.jpg After loosening the crossbar nuts on both sides and positioning it up for clearance, remove the clips securing the evaporator box halves together as well as the metal straps holding the evaporator unit to both the heater core box and blower motor housing. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1089.jpg Now seperate the two box halves. You'll have to be a little persuasive since they've been in there for 20+ years. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1092.jpg After removing the bottom section, pull out the evaporator assembly. It may be easier to go ahead and unbolt the upper box section from the firewall for better access. *NOTICE* there are electrical connectors screwed into the upper box. Unscrew and remove the retaining tabs holding the connectors in place. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1110.jpg Notice the vacuum lines and solenoids pictured. Make a note where they go for re-assembly. NOTE this is a good time to remove the evaporator drain hose going to the floorboard under the carpet. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1114.jpg Here are the electrical components you will need to re-install: http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1121_zpsa8669148.jpghttp://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1123_zpsa6ce51f8.jpg Now is a good time to install the firewall plug.http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1117_zps484a1637.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1116_zpsdf35968d.jpghttp://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1119_zpsbb51e3ce.jpghttp://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1118_zpsde093e77.jpg NOTE the hole next to the plug would be perfect for a wideband a/f meter or something similar. Now install the a/c delete duct http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1122_zpse25ae349.jpg After the delete duct is installed, position the solenoids and electrical switches out of the way for the glove box assembly using zipties or equivalent. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1124_zps3afc49d6.jpg Now re-install the glovebox and lower panel. Clean up debris and your ready to roll! http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt230/gguy84/DSCN1129_zps8136fa1a.jpg Edited December 11, 2012 by TexasQuest

JohnnyWadd
That's really cool. You should just keep the ac evaporator and run coolant through it just think how hot you could get it in there.

RF600
You can find them on the mighty max pickup. I got one at the wrecking yard. You can take it out without any tools.
aknorthstar
I want to add that the vacuum line for the heater controls runs thru the firewall between the a/c lines.(copper tube in pic #6) . Required for your heater controls to work so you need to run the vacuum line thru.
