  1. I been wanting to do this swap seen I read yokomo's build. Once I get back to the mainland I'm gonna look for a good swap canidate. Please keep us posted on your progress.
  2. When I did my 5.0 swap I also used the stock mustang engine mounts. For the transmission mount I got a short mount from Carquest. (can remember the part #) I ran the '94-'95 front accessories and waterpump to allow more room for the radiator and fans. I used a front sump oilpan from the early 302's.
  3. I guess for the price you can't beat the Mega Squirt. Love the motor mount! On the guages can't you just drill and tap another whole in the a cooling passage and run the stock starquest sensor? Is the v8 setup to use the same coolant sensor for the gauge and ecu? And maybe put a t-fitting fitting to use the stock pos oil pressure sensor? I don't know if I'll go turbo or not. Really just looking for a nice daily driver. I have a '90 mustang (along with everyone else in the world) That I did a mod swap and sn95 dash swap. It's just everyone has a mustang. I think there are only 4 Starquest on island (Hawaii)right now. Sorry I won't tie up your thead anymore. Keep us posted. Sid
  4. Man this is one bad swap! I was up til 2:30am reading this thread. I've done a chevy v8 swap, and a 302 swap. I think this is my next project! One question though, why didn't you use a early model wiring harness and ecu? I found a complete running '91 sc400 for $500. Great job!
  5. Who makes the bellhousings for the 6g motor?
  6. Those are some very nice looking star/quest Cyberquest! Yours too Mistapickles! If mine comes out looking half that good then I will be happy.
  7. Thanks for the input. I looks like single stage paint. I know it has never been repainted, so was just curious. I will be painting it myself and will be using base/clear. The Hawaii sun kills paint.
  8. I have a rio/mexican red '88 Starion with factory paint. Does any one know if Mitsu use a 2 stage(base coat/clear coat) or a single stage paint? The paint is fading so I was thinking about repainting it to help with the value of the car. It only has 60K miles.
  9. Well, the swap is on hold for now. Sold my DD so now I have to drive the Starion. I did find some good stuff that would make this swap easier. Found a front sump oil pan for the 4.6/5.4. http://www.dvsrestorations.com/sump.html (Summitracing sells the pan too). After measuring the hydroboost setup, you would need to use one off of a '99-'04 Mustang GT as the lines don't stick out as far on the side as the '96-'98. Hope this info helps. I may continue this project in the future after I by another daily driver.
  10. Looking for an aluminum radiator for my '88 Starion 5-spd. Let me know. Will need to be shipped to Hawaii 96786.
  11. Hey, I'm from Corpus. I took a military leave from the police department to serve in the army. Currently station in Hawaii. I did a 5.0 swap to my '87 quest when I lived there. I sold it to a friend that has a shop at the corner of Holly and staples in the warehouses behind Whiskey River. His name is louie. He does Auto body and paint. So if you want to see one first hand its over there. It was silver.
  12. Well, after much debate I gonna start a 4.6 2valve/t45 swap in my '88 Starion. I've already did a 383/th400 swap, and a 302/t5 swap. I have the engine and trans already. I will need the wiring harness and computer. I did some measuring on one of my quest before and was thinking about using a modded tubular front k-member for a mustang. It's funny how close the measurements are between the mustang and the starquest. Meaning balljoint to balljoint, upper strut mounts. If I find that this is doable then I will be able to use the tubluar a-arms, and steering rack. Pretty much the whole front suspension from a mustang. This would alleviate the oilpan crossmember issues, steering issues, and the torsion rods going to the front radiator support. I will have to fab up some rear mouting points on the frame for the rear mounts on the k-member, but that shouldn't be too hard. I will keep ya'll posted on the results. This is in the begining stages right now. I plan to build another engine using an aluminum block, but that will be after I get the swap done. After I do some more measurements I'll post my findings and pics.. Sid
