    Engine rebuild- Cleaning threads

    tsi_tom
    By tsi_tom,
I am rebuilding the original engine that was in my car. I have used a tap to clean out the threads, but that seems to ever so slightly take some material off. What do you guys use? Thread chasers, taps, or thread restoring dies?   In my previous engine build I used a tap and haven't seen any issues.   Snap On thread restorer https://store.snapon.com/U-S-Metric-Combination-Tap-and-Die-Sets-Kit-Master-Rethreading-U-S-Metric-P641094.aspx

My in-laws came to the house today to drop off my daughter and then called on the phone 2 minutes after leaving. He told me to bring my truck ... I met him 300 yards down the road from my neighborhood and found him with what you see. Not a bad day.
