what's the difference between the 83 starion lights and the later models?

Well although I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere through rigorous searching it seems that on my manual swapped quest the 17 tooth drive gear is simply too small to make contact with the drive gear in the transmission.   I know that the housing needs to be oriented correctly to make contact normally but I can literally rotate it 360 degrees with no contact at all. The gears are not worn or damaged so I must assume that the gear diameter prevents the necessary reach. Plus I would like the speedo

Granted, I probably wouldn't own one if it were the same price as others in it's class, but why is this car so low-priced?   The car looks great and it's performance isn't the best but definitely one of the best of it's time.   Not to mention it's one of the rarest cars out there.   Maybe I just bought a good one, but the mechanical and electrical issues I've come across were very minor and easy fixes.   Tested to beat the Z31 300ZX & the FC RX7, but priced way-lower.   I really don't unders
