On a previous car I fought like hell to get a power steering gearbox to stop leaking at the bottom. Even OEM seals didn't do it. Now I have the motor and the same PS pump in a different car. I don't want the same problem. If the flow control valve is sticking, could this cause seals to blow in the gear box?   Thanks in advance.

Also there's the same sort of black can mounted to air filter canister, which has a hose connected to bottom, one to filter canister and also valve cover, can I remove that and what exactly is it?
