Long Time Listener First Time Caller

    By HiDef,
Hey everyone, Here is my story, (TL:DR version and pictures at the very end)   For the last 5ish years now I've wanted a project car, I'm a mechanical engineer and a project car would let me flex my "buildin' and fixin' muscles" quite nicely. I debated back and forth on a few different "other addictions", most of them from the 80's (gotta love that styling), but since the job I got after graduating (and still have) was a position with Chrysler my gaze narrowed pretty quickly (the parking spaces

    Changing Vacuum Advance

    By BoostedBimmer,
Ok, it seems like the two little screws that mount the vacuum advance on the distributor are impossible to unscrew without removing the upper radiator hose and thermostat housing so that I can get enough clearance for a screwdriver to fit (and also have to remember to use my JIS screwdriver so as not to strip the screws!). I tried using one of those 90 degree handle screwdrivers, but it didnt work (and was on the verge of stripping the screws).   Anyone have any trick of unscrewing those screws

    Historic Plates--Any Downsides?

    BoostedBimmer
    By BoostedBimmer,
Ok, I was thinking of getting Historic license plates, since my car meets the 25yrs old or older criteria. I know I wont have to worry about emissions inspection then. What is the downside of getting these plates?   I (think) you are restriced to only 3,000 miles a year, but who is going to check?? Also, I think you are only allowed to use the car to/from parades, a garage, car shows, etc and not for daily use. Does that mean a cop can give me a ticket for driving the car at 2 am coming back
