Frame rust

Just picked up an 88 Conquest this weekend. I would like to eventually have this thing restored. Found on the passanger's side, a section of the frame is rusted through, anyway to cut out the rusted portion and get a new piece of steel welded in?

Hood mod(gas dampers)

Here is a modification I have made for the hood.
These are actualy a pair of aftermarket dampers for the opel Calibra hood, that have been modified.

;DNow I don't have to worry about the hood slaming shut, if the hood holder pin gets knocket away , when I work in the enginecompartment.
And the hood is so easy to open!!

Rack and pinion conversion

I don't like steering gearboxes. (ok now that we've established that...)
How many people would be interested in buying a conversion kit for a rack and pinion steering wheel for their starquest?
The kit would be based on a readily available rack & pinion <list of common cars w/ rack and pinion here>. I still have some research to do on which would be best for our car and which common cars have that rack & pin. And I'd make sure it is sturdy enough to handle the wieght of our
