    Rebuilding Quests 87 & 89 ???

    Vipers_quest
    By Vipers_quest,
I have an 89 Quest with 218,200 miles and an 87 with 88,348. I'm restoring the 89 from a friend who neglected her (runs but needs all around tlc) The 87 however I want to rebuild the motor (motor not in the car) with mods, but local people tell me I'm nuts to alter the 87 because of the mileage and should work the 89. I'm courous for some input from other questers about my situation.   As far as my motor, I'm looking for recomendations as far as mods and parts, brand names, etc.   Any help y

Well, maybe.... MPI turbo Montero is up and running!  It's only taken me eleven months to raise this little truck from the dead, but it will be well worth it!  I have the SDS system, with ignition, DIS.  I got it running today, and got the magnet position set, and idle mixture set.     Anyway- I'm super stoked ;D  Somehow, my wife, business partner, dad, hmmm, nobody else, seems to understand why this is such a big deal to me   Thanks for everyone's help,   --MatB

http://community.webshots.com/photo/163321...163321898vMUmGS check out that link(its my crude wiring diagram) if you can understand wiring diagrams, it should make sense the normally open relay controls itself if current runs through it, the relay stays on once current flow stops, the relay automatically opens the fuel pump circuit disabling the fuel pump the remote mounted switch bypasses the relay until u switch it off the car will remain running until it is shut off, opening the relay
