I started the car up yesterday and as I drove out of the neighborhood it started to surge.  Sometimes it surges at idle as it warms up but this was a surge at any throttle position.  I initially thought maybe my fuel gauge was wrong and I limped to the a gas station and put some in it.  No change, AFR was reading super lean. I have a 1987 Conquest Tsi that with the exception of after market coil overs (found here thank you!) is all original. Recently the temperature display has stopped working, the heat and ac both still work, just not the display. I have had it to two different mechanics and they were both clueless. Anyone have any thoughts?

I was wanting to know what is involved in changing the high pressure power steering hose. I read on here that you have to pull the motor?  

Provided by: DAD - AKA Randy I found a company in New york that rebuilds fuel pump sending units and pick up tubes.  I  sent a fellow Quest member to them and asked for him to let me know  if they fixed him up.  Just got an email that he had his rebuilt.  and working fine.   His cost was $135.00,  They  will give you a price on it before repairing after they look at it.
