anyone ever have a rocker arm slide out of place?

So, while driving today I noticed a bit of a lifter tick and slight valve train noise. I pulled the valve cover off to check it out, I figured an oil hole was getting blocked or somthing. Well, come to find out cylinder 3 intake rocker arm had slid forward about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Just enough for the lifter to catch on the retainer and stop it from causing serious damage. My wife just purchased a 89 starion. It needs a motor rebulid. And the interior redone. But the head has been decked(njv) and ready to go with throttle body. I have a opportunity to buy a 87 quest with a fully rebulit motor 1500 miles on it. But the frame rails are destroyed. It has all the interior about a 7 on a 10 scale. Comes with a few parts such as a 16 c. The owner told me he the turbo went out and was blowing oil everywhere so he parked it. But never could get the funds together to fix
