My buddy's got a bobcat with a Yanmar (?) diesel 4 cylinder in it. He was using it a while back, pushing pretty hard and noticed it was running HOT. He shut it down, and as he did it blew the cap off the coolant tank and cracked it. Said he heard something like a pop or crack.
