  1. I've decided to go ahead and nominate my SQ for a new home. I've owned this car since 2007 and have invested lots of time and money to make this car as reliable as possible. The engine was replaced and rebuilt in 2010 and I've daily driven the car since. I'm selling it because I'm downsizing and unfortunately don't have the room anymore. I'm currently unable to complete everything on it, which means a lower much lower price than what I have invested. I'm most concerned with the car going to a good home where it will be appreciated and given proper care. Below are some details about the car and the various parts I've replaced or repaired: - The exterior could benefit from a paint job but the original coat (Shetland Beige) is mostly intact and waxes up nicely. Above average for it's age and definitely a great looking car from ten feet. The car was originally purchased in Buffalo, NY, so with that in mind, there is some minor rust around the edges of the rear fenders and a few spots on the side skirts, all cosmetic. Easy repair when choosing to have the car repainted. I've repaired the original 3-piece front airdam and is ready for a repaint if you decide to keep it original. - The interior is near perfect with no damage to seats, carpet, or dashboard. The car even has the original floor mats and trunk cover. It has a Grant mahogany steering wheel installed and a quality JVC head unit. - Both tie rod assemblies have been replaced recently and the car did receive a complete alignment. This was about 15K miles ago. Struts, shocks, mounts and springs are all original to my knowledge. They have been inspected, make no noise and show no signs of failure. The car handles well and very solid through turns. - Tires were replaced at 75K with Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Positions. Fronts are P225/50R16 and rears are P245/50R16. Fronts still have 7/32" of tread, the rears will need to be replaced soon. - The engine was rebuilt at 74K in August, 2010. I did quite a bit of work to get this engine the way I wanted it. Machining was performed by R&B Mach. Parts installed are: magnafluxed rods; ACL Street Performance rod, main and thrust bearings, ARP rod and journal cap hardware kit; high-end balance shaft eliminator kit; six-piece timing set with new sprockets, guides, and plated links; Wiseco 8.0:1 forged skirt pistons; Ajusa metal head set; ARP head studs; ported M28 cylinder head with 21-4N stainless valves, Schneider 6610 high tension valve springs and heavy duty spring retainers; Schneider 274 hydraulic performance camshaft w/ new lifters; 1G Talon MAS and 89 ECU; 89 knock control box; Blaster performance ignition coil; rebuilt 14G turbo currently running 17psi; MK1 OVCP kit w/ Turbo XS Type-H RFL blow off valve; 2.75" custom exhaust and down-pipe; EGR, air conditioning and EVAP systems have all been completely stripped and removed. I didn't spend much time making everything look pretty, but it's all very clean and organized. I have also installed an AutoMeter 4301 vacuum/boost gauge to the stock instrument cluster. I've taken this car on several trips out of state with NO problems. The engine runs excellent and smooth with great power. I clocked 29mpg on a recent trip to New York with periodic boost. I haven't had the car tuned since the engine was installed. - This car has an '89 waffle transmission, new clutch assembly (240mm), and U-joints installed. No slop in the shifter bushings and all synchros are crisp. Swap was done at 78K and the clutch was replaced last month. There are a few issues with the car that I haven't yet been repaired: -The windshield has a completed crack 1/4 from the bottom. It doesn't interfere with the wipers or impede vision. -I've discovered a small power steering leak which appears to be coming either from the front seal of the pump or the return hose. Only seems to leak for a period after the engine is stopped. -The parking brake doesn't really hold the car well anymore. Still has resistance but the car continues to roll some. -The driver's side seat belt has stopped in the fastened position. I never attempted to disassemble and repair it. This is definitely a fine example of a daily driveable Conquest. It has a clear title and comes with lots of extra parts I've accumulated over the years. I'm located in the Triad of North Carolina. Will sell to SQC friends for $3500. You can reach me anytime at 336-862-9944 or send me a PM through here. If there are any other pictures you'd like to see, let me know and I'll e-mail them to you. Thanks for reading. Craigslist Ad with pictures: http://winstonsalem....3299629665.html

  3. well my name is Max and my love for Starquests started when i got my first car 3 years ago a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD (Which i built and still have today) which made me look into Mitsubishi's history and thats where i discovered the starquests which i instantly fell in love with just how they look and everything about them and that they where RWD. So as time went on all my friends where buying and building 240sx's for drifting which i really enjoy but could rarely do because i dident own a RWD car so one night while i was drifting with some friends on forza 4 with a starion i started throwing the idea around that i should actually buy one and everyone was like you should im sick of seeing 240 after 240 i mean dont get me wrong there great cars but everyone and there grandma has one and i wanted to be unique so the next day i posted on facebook if anyone knew where one is for sale and within 10min i got a reply from a buddy of mine in portland who said he knew a guy who has a widebody for sale so i got in contact with him and sure enough he did have a 87 widebody for sale but it had a rod knock but that wasent a problem for me (iv built a good amount of engines with great success) so i asked him for a picture and he sent me this http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_4465.jpg i know its 2 colors but i dident care i fell in love with it. The body was in great shape and so was the interior so i told him ill take it. That weekend me and my buddy went up to portland and pick it up. The guy i bought it from was very nice and was sad to see it go but he was happy it was getting a good home and he through in a bunch of parts like turbo door handles, extra fenders, hood, manual seat belts, hard pipe with a turbo xs bov, full 2.5in exhaust and a bunch of other stuff. So right before we left he asked me if i wanted a 84 flat body parts car that has everything except a motor for $100 i told him sure so not only did i get a 87 widebody i got a 84 flatbody within 1 week crazy to think so now on top of having 5 dsm's i have 2 starquests. So when i finally got home i cleaned her up and she looks good even being 2 colors P.S. if anyone has white widebody fenders, airdam and front bumper that they would want to sell that would be awesome i already have a white hood but am looking for a 83 hood http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5122.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5126.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5121.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5119.jpg so the next weekend me my dad and my friend pulled the engine which looked to be in pretty good condition which only took 30min to pull love how easy this engine is to work on http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5129.jpg so after tearing apart the engine we found some good things and bad things. Good we found out that it has the 2.5l non jet valve head with a new deck and a 272 cam with ARP head studs http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5131.jpg Bad is i found a bearing in the oil pan with alot of metal so on further inspection it was the oil pump balance shaft bearing which in turn froze the pump from spinning which stripped all the teeth off the oil pump gear and snapped the chain so it was driving with zero oil pressure which caused a bearing to spin causing rod knock crazyhttp://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5133.jpg so when i finally got the engine completely apart i found out that it defiantly needed bored and the crank needed to be polished. The next day i took it to my machinist and we decided to go .020 over on the bore and .010 over on the crank so that night i bought everything i would need to rebuild ithttp://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5173.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5170.jpg so after getting everything back from my machinist it was assembly time which went really smooth except for the freeze plugs which where a pain in the tail to find all of them but when i did it was on like donkey kong so i got it fully assembled, removed the balance shafts and painted the block blackhttp://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5367.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5375.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5379.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5427.jpg when i was done assembling the engine we put her back in her rightful place and hooked everything up http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5438.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e91/toyotagt1/my%2087%20Mitsubishi%20Starion%20ESI-R/IMG_5444.jpg well after we hooked everything up we where putting fluids in her when i noticed there was a puddle of break fluid on the ground and i tracked it the slave cylinder was leaking badly so now im just waiting on a new one to come in but in the mean time we started the engine which started on the first crank and ran perfectly we set the timing and turned her off because i want to be able to drive her to break the engine in properly so thats where she sits until hopefully Monday when the new slave comes in. A couple of days ago tho my friend and i went to Corvallis to pick up his 84 starion which i went to get some goodies he had collected over the years like a full set of 5 lug wheel that where in great condition, a turbo hatch window, widebody fenders, full black leather interior and i picked up a great condition 4G64 6 bolt wideblock for the future engine build. So now the car has 8's all around which i think looks great (wish they where SHP 9's tho) cant wait to get her lowered and driving update soon

  7. Driving home from work yesterday I saw a grey Starion NB on the 405 between Bellevue and Bothell areound 7pm. Idaho plates on the car. I drove past you on your left and gave you the thumbs up from my Turbo MR2. Starions are a very rare sight in the PNW. Not so rare in other parts of the country but I think in the almost 3 years I've been living out here this is only the 3rd or 4th Starquest I've seen... period. Meets and casual driving combined. Put a big smile on my face. I was smiling the rest of the way home

  10. Im in Eugene Oregon. This car was originally black with red interior, now its blue and green with red interior. Mods: Clutch-Fan,JVEK,BSEK,AC delete,lo-buck FCD,new speakers. Website for the car/rebuild https://sites.google.com/site/1986starion/ I also have about 500 pictures of the car here: https://plus.google.com/photos/102108211058800240055/albums/5436082381246068705 I just posted a couple pictures of the car after putting on a bunch of bare metal parts. I bought the car off a guy on craigslist. He says he's been garaging it for 10 years, but never got around to fixing it. He got it from someone that drove it in california for 10 years. It had about 127k miles, it was in pretty rough shape. Believe it or not, I've spent over $4,000 on this car, just to make it reliable, and almost stock. I did the FCD last fall, and have pretty much wrecked the turbo (stock 12a). It will still boost to 1 bar, but I know that cartridge is ********. I've ordered new parts and will build a new turbo when parts arrive. The car does have some small dings, but no major dents (but there is a mystery spot by the gas tank, I found bondo when I accidentally scratched the paint) The only rust on the car is on the old messed up bare metal panels I've recently put on the car, I still have all the original panels too. The tires on the car are totally the wrong size, and they are old, and just generally suck, I shouldnt have bought them. The only real appeal the tires have is the rears look thick, and probably last for many burnouts. There is a whole I burned (battery acid) in the back seat when a battery tipped over, The drivers seat is pretty worn, and stitching has ripped. The steering wheel leather is worn prettymuch too, but its all stock, and everywhere else, its in good shape. I painted much of the rubber/vinyl with vinyl dye, but the front bumper, and spoilers its didnt take too well, and is flaking off. Right now I have it in flatty front fenders, and all bare metal, but those are just spare parts I have, if you want stripped bare panels, I could throw some in to sweeten the deal.
  11. Im new to these cars although i have someone here locally to help me out. Right now im currently looking for an engine in washington state.
  12. Ok so I'm going to try my best to explain this to the "T". it's a 86 starion esi-r When I bought the car you had to pump the throttle constantly to keep it running and it would not rev passed 1800rpms, if you tried to hold a constant rpm with the throttle it would bog down and die. My first reaction was the fuel filter was clogged.... Easy fix I was wrong haha. I limped the car to a friends shop and started digging. I change out the fuel pump and filter just to make sure it was getting enough fuel ( the old pump was weak). I didnt see the "pre-fuel pump" filter/screen so I assume someone has already been there to replace the pump. After all of that it still doesn't run right at all. The car starts up with out any problems with in 2 seconds of cranking the car is running, but it idles soo rough like it needs a good tune up( which has been done I will add a parts list at the end). Now it kind of idles on its own and I can drive it but when I drive it sometimes bogs down and I have to let off so it wont die. It will buck and bog and start building boost also. While trying to hold a steady speed lets say 60mph it bucks and feels like a huge miss but when I checked the plugs the shows that it's burning all the fuel like normal so it's not a mixture issue, the timmong is set to 10 btdc. The old owner said he went to go eat and went inside and when he came out to leave the car ran like crap and limped it home. I'll try to post a video of it as well. Parts list ( stuff that has been replaced or tested good) New fic 850cc injectors New plugs Good ngk wires maybe 3000 miles on them New cap New rotor New fuel filter New fuel pump New o2 sensor New maf All new vaccine lines (replaced one by one to not mix them up) New coolant temp sensor The car had a oil change in Cali at 77,300 miles it has 78,100 on it now so this problem just happened. Any help would be great!!!!!!!

  17. I have been on here as a member for quite some time, but finally bought something! 1987 Mitsubishi Starion, 147k, black leather seats, 5 speed, widebody. I was in the market to buy the atlantic blue starion a few years ago, but sadly I blew a motor in my 1989 Montero and had to buy a 2001 Subaru to do my DD. Now that I don't need a DD, I sold the Subaru and bought this! Paid $1200 plus a laptop I had laying around. needs the top of the gas tank cleaned up, replace rusted out freezeplug, reattach intake, redo some inside wiring, replace fuel pump. After that she should start. Also, I am in need of a front 5 lug allow, anyone nearby have one laying around they would part with? this one has a pretty nasty bend they tried to pound back. http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/548160_10151462959870643_618630642_23421950_1359955464_n.jpg
