  1. Information Provided by: psu_Crash Finished up cleaning the tranny and all ready to put it back in the car. I decided that since I had it apart I might as well change the input shaft seal. So I did. The original seal looked fine but I changed it anyways just for peace of mind. So when I pressed in the new seal it didn't seem to press in as far as the old seal. I think it must have been a slightly thicker seal. I checked the ID and OD ... but not the thickness. So here is what it looks like after it was pressed in. It is definitely bottomed out and even. Doesn't seem right, but hope this is OK since I put the seal carrier back on like this. http://imageshack.com/a/img537/5808/LR15Wt.jpg The gasket set that I bought seems to have all the right gaskets. The only ones I can really confirm are the gasket behind the input shaft bearing/seal carrier, the tail section to main section, tail section linkage cover and the shifter gasket. These are all correct. That kit has a TON of gaskets in it. Even seems to have more than one style of a few gaskets. Just FYI part #'s Tranny Gasket Set: Fel-Pro TS 80310-1 Input Seal: Timken 1981 Output Seal: National 223608 And also the stock Input bearing is TM-SC 0778NCS30 PX1 it says JAPAN NA on it also.
  2. I had a mechanic rebuild my engine, brake system, remove A/C and all for that only a little over $10,000....seriously,,,,not even kidding.....Well he passed away so that settles that, but now I have a brand new engine, less then 10,000 miles on it,,,actually about 3300, and I'm considering putting a new transmission in it.. Last tranny job was done in 2000. No problems since, probably close to a 100,000 miles on that tranny, so does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a new tranny and what kind??? Also any ideas on where to get a new cruise control system? Mine works sporadically. Oh ,,,,and how do i go about getting the rear end rebuilt or replaced. I know very very little about cars, hence maybe thats why my mechanic bent me over with no kiss or vaseline. any help / recommendations would be very appreciated. Thanks again Ronn Ramos DC 7209899377 cell drronn@hotmail.com
  3. I am looking for synchronizer keys and springs for a 1987 5-speed transmission. Part number Md701897 and Md701766. These can be found for super cheap online so mostly I am hoping someone just has them laying around and no longer needs them so I can save $4. I will pay shipping of course. Email response to sandmaster29@gmail.com please. Thanks!
  4. Please forgive me if this is a duplicate. I thought I had already posted this but cannot find the original post. I am doing a Gen III 4.8 LS base LR4 swap in my 88 conquest. That being said the motor and tranny are up for sale. I really dont want to break it up so if you offer to buy something separate from the two combined please bee sure it's worth my wild . The engine and tranny will come with whatever you need. Wiring, ECU, shifter, etc, etc, etc... The only thing that will remain stock is the rear end, wheel shafts and interior. I am actually thinking of changing the instrument cluster so I may sell it to the right buyer. I may also be willing to sell the digital climate control cluster as it will probably no longer have A/C anymore. Wheels and tires are for sale as well. If you want just the wheels which were just sent off to Cali and refinished about 5 years ago I'll take $500. They are the factory staggered set. If you want the tires to remain they literally have less than 500 miles on them. Kumho Excsta's. Wheel tire combo will be $900. Anything engine and transmission related I want to keep together as it is a good running motor and tranny. Anyways, forgive me again if this is a duplicate. You can email me directly @ tofosmotors@gmail.com I hope it is ok to mention this as well if not we can always tie me to the whipping post . I also have a few toys to sell. 1. 1991 Camaro RS V8 65,000 original miles. Cruise, tilt, A/C, Auto, T-Top $5K 2. 1994 Indianapolis 500 Edition Pace Car Ford Mustang Cobra Convertible (Interesting fact. In 1994 to build customer interest the 1000 Indy 500 pace cars were the first 1000 mustangs to come off the assembly line) Loaded, leather, Mach 460 Stereo (Still awesome by today's standards) It's a 5.0, GT40 heads cobra. The only thing not stock is a $1200 Bassani exhaust and MSD Dist. cap and rotor button. (Still have both originals that will come with the car) $15K 3. 1991 Honda Civic CRX Si. No rust, couple pings, and interior needs some TLC. $2.5K 4. 1983 GMC S15 High Sierra 4X4. 57K original miles. It is a 2.8 V6 with 700R4 Tranny. I Replaced EVERYTHING that goes bad sitting as it has been sitting for the last 12 years. New Brake lines, fuel lines, gas tank removed and beaded clean, new belts, hoses, transfer case switch, 4wd actuator, vacuum lines, interstate battery, transmission filter and fluid, rear end and transfer case oil, New tires (Kumho Ventures), repainted entire interior. There is a spec of surface rust just beneath the gas filler cap, and the hood has some tree residue on it (I think it can be buffed out). If interested I have video of the car running, forward and reverse to check tranny and the drive down the street to the garage I am doing the motor swap at. Also pictures to the other vehicles I have listed. again that is tofosmotors@gmail.com Thanks guys for looking.

  7. I know this is a total longshot, but I'm looking to pick up the rearmost piece of the L4N71B casing (the piece that the support mounts to and houses the rear tail-shaft seal) (not sure of it's technical name) Reason being, I'm rebuilding mine and I noticed the 2 stud bores for the support mounts are split in 3 places. I'd like to have one that isn't. I want this to be virtually bulletproof, so I can't have something as critical as the mount to fail. Here's a pic of what I need: http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/partseverywhere_zps880a515a.jpg Thanks Guys, I checked with the dudes at JP Transmissions and they can't get me one, so this is my only other option. -N8
  8. I've contemplated this for a while and now that I've obtained: one of BaltTsi's VB mod (level II) Master rebuild Kit with all steels/exedy frictions/seals/o-rings etc. also PM'd MikeMeyerhoff for some kevlar bands I finally tore into my spare tranny to build it up for my Fiji project. Alan has been kind enough to provide me with the ATSG manual, so I think I should be OK putting her all back together. However I found out I'm in need of a couple parts that aren't readily available from parts houses...I found my drums are shot. http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03958_zps8d4bb40a.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03959_zps7867a741.jpg Anyone have good ones laying around or know of a source where I could pick some up on the web? Thanks guys, -N8
  9. i have a 87 transmission for sale for 180 obo plus shipping. i will have pictures up asap
  10. I'm selling a complete engine and transmission out of an 88 Starion with 88K miles to make way for a 2JZ swap. Turbo needs to be rebuilt and the starter is not included in the sale. It's located in West Palm Beach area and I am willing to ship at buyer's expense (typically $200 for engine and tranny). I'm asking $650 and the engine and transmission will be pulled when I have a buyer. Willing to separate. Thanks
  11. 1987 Starion parts car with salvage title. This car was hit in the back while at an intersection at a dead stop. 68k miles on engine and transmission. Car does roll and was running when pulled into my garage 2 years ago but I have taken off the fuel injector and fuel pump so it does not run. The doors do not close so that gives you and idea of the damage on the back. There is no air dam on the front, I have used it on the one I have rebuilt but all the rest of the front end body parts are there. $600 is the price. I am not interested in parting out, I really do not have the time to mess with it. I also do have my finished car up for sale, it looks great and has 78k miles and everything works on it, even the antenna. It's been fun to work on in the past 2 years and have had a good time driving it, but on to the next project. Price on that is $6500. Send me and email if you are interested in parts car and I will forward pics. Interior is black leather, manual transmission. Pics of both cars are on Craigslist Chicago Illinois. Rosepeeper@aol.com
  12. So after working on her for 9 months I thought my car was ready for a decent drive. This was the first time I drove it more than 20 miles or so in a day. I drove about 80 miles of mostly twisty back country roads. About 2 miles from home a loud metal on metal sounding grind/vibration started to happen. It seems to kick in at around 2000 rpm and continues through the the rpm range. Seems to happen in all gears. When not in gear there is an on and off knocking sound. If I push in the clutch I feel some feedback and a gritty type feel. After a few seconds of the clutch being pressed in the noise stops, input shaft stopping maybe?... I initially thought it was the clutch or throwout bearing, but after reading through the forums I'm not sure. During my drive I was beating on her a bit. I thought I heard a similar sound doing a right turn power over, but it went away as soon as I let off the throttle and the car straightened out. This was also the last time I got her loose. I have not had the transmission off since I have owned the car so I do not know the condition of the clutch parts. Should have checked those I guess.... Also it looks like at some point the car probably sat for at least a year, maybe longer. The most recent work I did was the brakes (rotors, rebuilt calipers, steel braided lines, pads, and master cylinder). When doing the master cylinder I noticed it had been leaking quite a bit (no more paint down my left underside FTW). It is possible some brake fluid got into the bell housing/clutch I suppose. Any help would be appreciated. My HOA is a pain so I can't do any work at home. I have a buddy a few miles away with a shop and a lift that I do all my work at, but I can only have the car there for that day. So I have to have all the parts I need when I take the car. I'm a little short on cash right now so buying a tranny and clutch kit together are probably out of the cards. I can do one or the other. Thanks for reading.
  13. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230973494251?item=230973494251&viewitem=&vxp=mtr I'm starting my 2jz swap and have a great motor and transmission combo up for sale! It is listed on eBay and Craigslist for the same price, and the links for both ads are here! http://pensacola.craigslist.org/pts/3762537976.html
  14. Hey guys, Just discovered I still have a spare 5 speed tranny laying around, which I believe is out of an 88 car, as I only had/parted out 88/89's a few years back. No idea how many miles were on it either. Anyway, you would probably know more about it than me if your looking for one since I've been out of the loop for a few years now. It shifts smoothly through all the gears, but it was outside under a tarp, so I am selling "as-is" and your welcome to come take a look at it. I can also tie this down to a pallet and ship it, but at your expense. Im located in NE PA near Stroudsburg, 40 mins above Allentown. Take a look at the pictures and let me know, email me if interested - mark@ahpminis.com Price - $150

  25. ok so ive been doing some digging around and noticed there is a mixture of what pressure plate, friction disk, or clutch kit combos that are out there. this is the first clutch goin in this car as i am making the auto to manual swap. i would like to know more on what set up you have or have had that you like the most and why or if you didnt like a set up to much then please tell me also. im no stranger to a stiff clutch my mustang has a cobra clutch and it requires a quite a bit of force to engage. i will be using a stock replacement flywheel, and the car will be all stock but i dont want to have to go back and put in a new clutch later when i start upping the boost on the 12a. as of right now i dont plan on going all out with the car, i just want to get it back as close to factory and get it somewhat reliable before i start modding. please include 1) brand of parts 2) where you got it 3) if you bought each part separate and mix-matched 4) how much you spent 5) hows the pedal feel and why you did or didnt like it. thanks for you help guys. im going to be buying this stuff here shortly and id like to know whats the best bang for buck. thank you again for all your help, will-e
