  1. Ive been searching on google to figure out which turbo would better suit my goal,which is achieving 300whp on TBI. Some say the 16g is capable of such power, some say its not. Many say its achievable with the 20g but needs much more supporting mods than the 16g will need. Also in most of my search, its said the 20g will lag much more, getting full boost between 3500~4200rpm, but these figures are on a 2.0 liter motor. The G54B being a 2.6, will these figures be different in terms of hp and boost lag? My car will be used more on the street as a daily, also frequently on the track doing time attack, auto-x, maybe some drifting, about 4 to 5 track days a year....maybe more. Rebuilt G54B motor (stock) CX racing fmic & 2.5" piping 1G MAS walbro 255lph fuel pump tomei FPR rebuilt stock injectors (flow tested and cleaned) full 3" exhaust big 16g turbo (which I already have) Apexi SAFC II Is 300whp achievable with the big 16g @15-20 psi with these supporting mods? Im really on the fence as to which turbo to go with since alot of people say they're both good streetable turbos

  3. Just excited, had to share, As some of you know, I've had some bad luck with turbo parts during the last year or so. I picked up an (unknown condition) 12A from a member a few weeks ago for $25. Cleaned it up and ordered a rebuild kit (16G Superback Kamak kit $59) and a new Kinugawa 16G wheel ($59). I called Jim and Gerry at GPop shop and told them I was doing the rebuild myself, but I'd like them to machine my 12A parts (CHRA and Compressor housing) and Balance (just to be on the safe side). I got a quote from them for $125 machining costs, and $65 to balance... then $18 return shipping was added for a total of $208.00. They inspected all of my parts and called me to let me know everything was in perfect shape to proceed. I was totally stoked to find that they had also completely rebuilt the turbo for me after they were finished (it's an easy job, but still, I told them I would take care of it to save myself a few dollars) The way that this was packaged was very nice (Bubble wrap/Kraft paper/ peanuts, and really nice closed cell foam made to fit snugly over both open ends of the fins. Total I have in a brand new 12A to 16G conversion is $351.00. If any of you are contemplating their services... what are you waiting for? Top notch work, and really nice guys to chat with on the phone. Willing to go the extra mile for their customers.   5. As some of you may know, I tried to rebuild a 16G a few months ago and something was awry and it detonated itself in less than 2 hours. My 12A that I'm currently running is on it's last leg as well. I'm looking for an inexpensive replacement and I stumbled on this. I'd just like a turbo for my auto that pulls well and could possibly keep up if some ricer pulls up next to me on the interstate, just so I don't look like a total shlub. Do any of you have experience with these...and/or what would need to be done with it if I currently have a ported hot/cold side of a stock TD05H in boxes in the garage. Just looking for ideas, even if it's a POS, I'd like to know before I decide to buy one. But keep in mind, I have a very small budget (like most of us). I like hearing recommendations... but telling me "It's a POS, you need this $1500 turbo like I have, it runs great" won't help me any. I know you normally "get what you pay for" but I don't plan on Dyno-ing this car or anything so I'd just like something decent for my daily driver. Thanks in advance guys, -N8
  6. Hey, I have an evo3 big 16g for sale bolts directly to starquests. turbo is near new condition very small amount of shaft play. Not ebay junk this is a $1200 new turbo. selling because im upgrading. only used turbo for about 1 month.. $400 OBO if you would like pics text 1-608-778-5115 put your starquest name and something so i know your talking about the turbo. thanks
  7. I have a few parts laying around from my dsm days that some guys could use. s16g compressor housing new $50 or best offer 14b turbo needs rebuild.And doesnt come with exhaust housing.No bent fins just really hard to spin by hand$50 b/o 2 wastegates from a 14b turbo work fine $10 a piece
  8. Ok so i traded a friend my 95 GST for his 87 Quest with a built engine but had blown the 14g that was on it. After that was said and done he put a E316g on it and it runs great but after you hit 10psi it spits and sputter like its hitting fuel cut. But earlier tonight it hit 15psi before that happened. So i am wondering what can be the cause of this problem? Because I plan to put a Dual stage boost controller on it and have high boost set to 20psi and low boost at 12psi. Also its not a stock 87 ecu from what ive been told. Also the Gas pedal is stiff as heck, it doesnt have the stock throttle cable its a universal the same friend put in, so i am wondering if i put a stocker back on it would it fix the stiff pedal?
  9. Getting down to the last few problems before this thing is about spotless. Only problem...I'm about out of cash to spend. My turbo is starting to go. Shaft has a bit of play side to side...not back to back though...and it's blowing oil like hell. This is my DD to college and gas to GET to college is bad enough. I don't have much to offer...maybe $100? Might be negotiable. I can rebuild my 12a but i would need an inducer wheel. Since I'm going to have to probably take the turbo off I thought i might would upgrade at least a LITTLE if possible. If anyone has a 14g or 16g that they're willing to pass up for not the greatest amount of money then that would be absolutely amazing. I'd rather go up from the 12a if possible. with the 16g being my most wanted, I might could do some kind of trade. Please help! Thank You, Charles C. Palka
