  1. Josh, It's Mike, The guy from NJ who wanted to wanted to buy this (maybe) before you took the deposit. On Sunday, I did buy the Black one from Lancaster. From what you told me, sounds like the red one was nicer and had more PM stuff done. It is a Black TSI 100% stock. Except for the battery. 51,400 miles on it. Looks like it was always garaged, I'm excited to get it. Looks alot like my Black Techinca from the old days. Has a couple of issues. Broken air dam, AC not cold, exhaust tip and antenna are MIA, alignment and Tune up needed.

    Mike,

Glad that you found one! I'm sure you'll work through those small issues and have it in tip-top shape in no time!

    Josh

  2. Can't wait to see this car in the metal when Alid brings it home, it will look good cruising with my 59k mile Sapporo!

I'm glad it's going to someone like Alid. These cars are hard to find in good condition anymore, and even harder to find in good, stock condition.

  3. Who's car is this .... is this Josh or Paul ... or another?

    Both actually.

We picked it up with intentions of doing a 4G swap on it, but after getting it back and looking it over, we just can't see cutting this thing up.

Once sold, we'll probably pick one up that's not in as good of shape to play with.

  4. Nice car. But I have noticed it's been repainted. Overspray on the muffler, and some overspray under the rockers, plus it's missing the IMPORTED FOR CHRYSLER badge as well. The paint job looks outstanding...but I don't think it's 'original'.

    Very nice car. Nice find.

"Original Miles", I.E., not rolled over odometer, not a laundered title, not a restoration with the odometer reset, etc.

The car was repainted in the late 80s/early 90s by the original owners. Story was that they were following a gravel truck that basically sand-blasted the front end.

They took the car back to the original dealer (who had both Chrysler and Mercedes Dealers) and had the insurance work performed by the Mercedes body shop. For 20 year old paint it still looks phenomenal.

The car still even has the cadmium coating on most of the parts under the hood.

  5. Man i swear there is alot of nice quest coming out of PA. That is where i got my auto from.

I wish that I were in CA trying to sell this thing. The whole classic-import thing out there is getting off of the ground pretty strong.

We'll catch up on the east coast in a few years...

I wish I had more space/money. I'd be just storing this thing and taking it out a couple times a year.

  6. Thought that I'd post this here in case anyone was interested.

I have it on Craigslist right now and will leave it up there for a week. After that, it goes on Ebay.

1988 Conquest TSI With only 48,000 original miles! This is not a misprint!

This car was purchased from the original owner who bought the car and shortly afterwards had kids and decided to park the car.

The car was then only started and moved around their parking area for the next several years.

I purchased the car and performed the following maintenance:

--All New Synthetic Fluids (Motul Brake Fluid, Redline Gear Fluids, Mobil One Engine Oil)

--New Front Brake Calipers and Pads and Rotors

    --New NGK Sparkplugs

    --New NGK Sparkplug wires

    --New Valve Cover Gasket

    --New PCV Valve

    --New Oil Cap Gasket

    --New Fuel Filter

--Flushed fuel tank (although it was clean and rust-free inside)

    --New Air Filter

--New Tires (Hankook Ventus V12 Evos)

--New Rear Brake Pads and Rotors

    --New Swaybar End Link Bushings

    --All new Belts

    --New Front and Rear Wipers

    --New Thermostat

The car drives like I remember these cars driving back when they were new!

The turbo has no play, and spools instantly. The car handles great and accelerates as it was intended to from the factory.

All of the power options (Steering Wheel Radio Controls, Digital Climate Control, etc) work correctly. Air Conditioning is ICE COLD and is the original factory refrigerant.

This is a true "Survivor" car!

$6500, located in Hatfield, PA 19440

More High Resolution Photos of the car can be found here:

  7. A year or so we ran a very successful sale on ACT clutches for forum members. At the end of the sale we had two people bail for one reason or another and these clutches have been sitting ever since. So......it is time to unload them at a good savings to you guys.

    We have:

    (1) MS1-HDG6 which is a heavy duty clutch kit with a 6 puck sprung hub disc. $329.99 Sold!

    (1) MS1-HDR6 which is a heavy duty clutch kit with a 6 puck unsprung disc. $319.99

If you are interested act fast as we only have one of each left over. You can give us a call at 215-997-6850 or email me at Erik@jnztuning.com

  8. 1) Head spacer to decrease compression is a big no-no. It's the "hack" way of dropping compression, and comes with a bunch of drawbacks. For those who'd like to debate this, do some research on quench and dwell then pipe up.

    2) Increasing stroke isn't always a "win" situation. Take 2.0 and 2.4 4G63s for example. I've disliked the 2.3/2.4s since they started using them, and sure enough a lot of people are getting out of them for those reasons. Even guys who were big advocates of the 2.4s have begun to realize that they're "Noisy POSs" (his words).

Volumetric efficiency is what you're after, not simply "displacement".

  9. If you can find one, I'd highly suggest going with a 2.0 wideblock, and avoid the 2.4 blocks. There's a reason why even lower-mileage units out of stock automatic vehicles show a lot of crank wear. I've yet to understand why people still go with this option.

Good call on the wideblock instead of going with the 4G63 block. Makes transmission selection a lot easier.

The other aspect is that I'd axe the MAF translator. Those things are suspect at best, especially with the DSMLink in the loop. I'm still pushing for them (DSMLink) to try to get a MAP based version of the DSMLink available.

As far as the harness, it's not that hard of a job to utilize the DSM harness in there.

  10. Last call on these, as today @ 6pm EST, the group buy is over.

    215-997-6850.

Please don't PM on these as I'll be working at home today. Just give Erik a ring if you need pricing, or want to be added in.

    Thanks!

  11. There have been some people who have contacted me via PM at the last minute to try to get in on this.

If you're interested in getting one, I'll extend this through the end of Monday. Just call Erik directly @ 215-997-6850 if you have any last second questions or want to put your deposit down.

  12. Dibbs on Rear end with Axles...if in good shape.... Price?

Honestly, I have to check the rear. It's been sitting in an "out-building" for about 9 months and I want to make sure moisture hasn't been an issue before I sell it to someone.

I'll check it tomorrow and let you know.

As far as price---same as everything else listed...make reasonable (yet on the cheap side) offer. Everyone else has given me reasonable offers and still gotten the stuff cheap. I have no idea what the stuff is worth in the used market---and don't honestly care. I'm just not taking hours to ship something for $10 profit.

  13. maybe you can get the flywheel company you go through to start making one for us with competitve pricing

i have a chromoly HKS flywheel that you can borrow if you wan them to copy it. Its 9.5 pound chromoly and nearly indestructible.

they would have to set the dowels for 240mm clutch though (HKS made all these for 225)

    Monty

btw check your PM's i have a favor to ask:)

Saw your PM, brutha but I don't have a definitive answer yet as they don't list that kit on the Walbro site or parts list. Just have to make a call tomorrow during buisiness hours and get you an answer.

As far as having ACT make Chromoly units for the Starquests, I can at least talk to them tomorrow to see if there's interest. We can always cross our fingers. :D

  14. I need the act extreme with the 6 puck and a fadenza flywheel if you can get price please. i pmed you but got nothing let me know thanks

We don't sell Fidanza as I hate the company (did a cheap copy of my 1G DSM shifters (that suck, BTW) and ***** out to "Dorm-Room Vendors" on Ebay. So, we stay away from that company (had it out with them several times on the phone about being scum).

I've PMed you on the clutch though.
