  1. Sucks man.... Atleast the engine is going to make its way into one of your other cars! I am still looking for a motor BTW for mine. heh
  2. Perhaps some pictures of the conquest bell housing and TDI bell housing would help. I know I have a conquest sitting in my front yard but I haven't pull the motor yet.
  3. Its a nice idea to stick with mitsu. but that motor is really hard to find and I'm allready more familiar with the VW diesels. I love how they rev out to 5k. I am not worried about fabbing up motor mounts and stuff. I just wanted to know if anybody else out there heard the same thing I had heard about the TDI motor bolting up to the Conquest tranny.
  4. I am trying to gather information on doing a diesel TDI VW swap into my 86 starion. I have heard from a few people (don't remember who) that the TDI motor will bolt upto the conquest tranny. can anybody confirm this?
  5. I baught it for too much, and didn't realise at the time that it woudn't work on a flatty. so, for 55$ - thats shipping included for USA people's if I have to ship and 40$ for local pickup, and its yours.
  6. I ran 15psi through this SAAB IC when I using it on my Turbo Volvo. I do want to get something a bit bigger though.
  7. hopefully in a couple of weeks, I'll have non rusted body paneling for her. and possibly a thumping stereo system.
  8. Damn it, I wish I had tons of money laying around. I need both doors, all the seats, both front fenders and hell the whole front end.
  9. sorry for opinions, but if you ask me 400$ for this car is very resonable. I do have the money, but I am from Oregon. Good luck, and I hope somebody close to you gets it and fixes it up or parts it out respecfully. no good parts should be wasted.
  10. I hope you are sarcastic. I haven't thought about doing anything with the appearance with this.

  12. I foolishly bought it on Ebay before I researched my purchase. Looks nice, I opened it up and its very clean on the inside. 50$ + shipping ofcourse.
  13. My drivers fender is horribly rusted out, so is my drivers door. If you have any leads on some fenders or if you might have some, let me know.
  14. kinda drove the thing around today instead.seems to run good. still having some issues here and there. but eh, its a quest!
  15. Got some rear tires for it. Next week - new brakes all the way around. Week after that, trip permit and start on registration and hopefully be driving it around!!!!
  16. Just an update to let people know that, I had taken a vacation, and used some funds for it. so the quest is suffering for it. Got a better job, that pays more. It will probably be mid july before, I have it completed.
  17. My setup its a bit different. Being a big Volvo guy, I have tons of spare Volvo parts.. thats why I have a Volvo/Mitsu 12B on my quest, I also took the quest rad out and put in a Volvo one. Gave me more room under the hood to add my IC and piping. I took a Daytona rad fan from a JY, and some wiring and a 40 amp relay, No fuse. heh. pretty much directly hooked the fan and relay upto the battery. I like the idea of my fan coming on while the car is off. I put the thermo switch in a coupler that can be found on some Volvo 740 non turbo's in the lower rad hose. I found a thermo switch that is of lower operating temp, and a 180 T - Stat. Almost ready to DEQ this old gal, and do registration, need brake pads and rear tires before I can drive on the road. yes, Money is an issue for me. A/C and related B.S. thown in the garbage!
  18. IT RUNS ON ALL FOURS!!! IT was the lame a** NAPA spark plug cables I bought last year. Its so satisfying to hear it run correctly again. I did a couple of stand stills, the boost maxed out at 5psi. whats is left on the check list before its totally road legal. 1. brake pads 2. new rear tires 3. exhaust system 4. DEQ and DMV registration.
  19. Well, Its running. but only on 3 cylinders. Put new NGK's in there, and its still not firing number 2. I took the plug wire off 2 and put a spare plug on it, and ran the motor, its firing every time.... I didn't have time to change the number 2 plug before work. when I change it tomorrow and try running it, It had better run on all four!! I don't see why it shouldn't. I'll put my MSD coil in there too. Maybe the spark isn't strong enough to lite off the mixture. All most there!!!!
  20. Another Update: car basically runs again. I have to yet to finish the new Radiator/Fan cooling setup. But should be running and driving by Sunday or Wednesday of next week.

  22. update, Got the NJ-Head on, Turbo is on, Intake is on. JB welded all EGR ports shut. and removed the EGR valve on the intake, JB'd some bolts in place of the ports. removed a lot of unnecessary water lines. Wednesday I'll be torquing down the head bolts to spec, and putting the valve cover on. Fuel lines, probably buy the SS oil feed for the Turbo. I'll try to take pictures of everything then too.
  23. thank you so much~! Bookmarking that page.
  24. just ordered a head gasket set.... now I need to know of a place that will sell cheap head bolts. (don't care about ARP ones right now, just some stockers will do)
  25. these are pics from last year when my buddy was trying to sell after figuring out that this was more than a quick project for her... I later aquired it after it didn't sell because I did an engine swap on one of her other cars. http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/8585/assendgz5.jpg http://img305.imageshack.us/img305/8307/carjz5.jpg http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/5302/drvrfrontkb7.jpg http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/2849/enginerg5.jpg http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4582/frontlc1.jpg http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1694/gaugelo0.jpg http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8672/hatchopentg1.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/4774/passfrontns9.jpg http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/3222/passinteriorll7.jpg http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/5369/passsidemh4.jpg Currently the head is off, I have a good used one ready to go on.
