  1. You guys outta check these turbos out, they are new technology, the first shipments just came off the truck, they have really good low boost performance, yet high flow and great in the top end. I chose the GT37 for my starion, which should give me the 500WHP I am looking for. You can pick them up at Precision Turbo for $995, talk to Joe, or at Limit Engineering, talk to John at Limit, he will probably give you a better price, but he didn't have the GT37 in the 82mm which I wanted. www.limitengineering.com www.precisionte.com anyhow here are the pics and the specs: next to a T4: next to a stock 12A, before i polished it ;D side view: the motor its going on: the Specs: It has a 1.12 A/R turbine housing, which you would think is way too big, but its not on the new turbine wheel it comes with I believe it is a T350 wheel, it will still spool up fast in the bottom end (for a 550hp turbo), and give awesome top end power, and it is a T3 flange, with a 4 bolt downpipe flange. If you don't believe me, ask John at limit, he is the one who explained it too me. I believe these turbos are going to be the next big thing in the turbo world. Also, they are not ball bearing, unless the number is followed by an "R" ex. GT37R well, I can't give any results yet, but hopefully soon, after I get all my parts in the mail, and get my motor installed. I will keep you guys updated on how this new turbo performs.
  2. I had the same troubles and i wasn't happy with the aussie TB anyway so What I ended up doing is switching to a better TB setup on my magna MPI. I used a 65mm 97 up ford mustang GT TB with TPS. It takes a little work. You have to redrill the mount holes to make it mate up with the aussie flange, and a little JB weld on the edge of the idler hole, but it looks alot nicer than the old aussie unit, and it easy to come by, I purchased mine on ebay for $24 which included the TPS. The TPS is great cause it is wired up the exact same as the GM unit which the SDS uses. http://www.tristarion.com/images/carpics/1051837397.jpg I can help anyone out more if they decide to go this route. good luck, Kevin
  3. I plan on changing the drivetrain when it breaks, which will be once the boost is cranked on the larger turbo. I would love to swap over the the GM 6-speed if it fits and everything would still work (shifter location, speedo). I figure the rear end can handle the power, and I will have a custom aluminum driveshaft. I will keep everyone updated, i ran into some complications so I am gonna be on hold for awhile, and still waiting on some parts, like the Chads SS header. peace, Kevin
  4. I sold both of you the same intercooler, theses are the same intercoolers I tried selling on the FOR SALE boards awhile ago after I installed mine and posted pics of mine. It is a huge intercooler and is bulletproof, and flows very well (better than stock). It takes alot of work to mount though, you'll need air tools and grinders and other cutting and fabricating tools, but once everything is cut, it will mount up awesome, fits perfect and flush and flat. If you guys have any problems along the way with installation let me know, I can take more pics or help you out with any problems. http://www.tristarion.com/phpBB2/viewcar.php?carid=27 good luck, Kevin 88esi-r
  5. here she is, almost done, hope it performs as good as it looks!!!! Magna Ported Intake, Â Ross 8:1, shot peened stock rods, knife edged lightened nitrate hardened enlargened oil hole crank, ARP Rod and Mains, Total Seal Rings, New Marnel Ported Head, 3angle valve job, SS .5mm oversize valves, H/D valve springs, H/V oil pump, and new timing chain and BS eliminator. and alot of other little things. Should be looking at 500hp once i get the garrett GT37 and the SDS tuned right. Anybody know how good the magna distributor is? and does anyone have one for sale here in the states if its worth it???? http://www.tristarion.com/images/carpics/1051837397.jpg http://www.tristarion.com/images/carpics/1051837484.jpg peace, Kevin
  6. Those runs are not very impressive for all the mods he has done. I ran less boost on my 18G on a stock bottom end, and managed to get 247hp and 319 tq @ 18-20psi and my fuel cutout at 5k rpm cause i don't have MY RRFPR installed yet. And i run stock injectors with upgraded pump and fuel filter. My dyno is posted @ tristarion, http://www.tristarion.com/phpBB2/viewcar.php?carid=27 the G54B as it sits is very capable, it just takes ppl to put the time into them to restore them and make them run how there supposed to. I do have to say though, those curves are very nice, best i have ever seen on TB injection. But you should be capable of alot more HP with your setup. The a/f looks like you put alot of time tuning it. Right now I am in process of a full 8:1 forged piston, knifed crank, etc.... rebuild and MPI, SDS, and i am building it for 500hp. . But best of luck to you, peace, Kevin 88' esi-r
  7. here ya go, already did 250hp on a 18G turbo. Check out this link on tristarion and check out the dyno sheet. 2.5"exhaust 2.5" intercooler piping, huge FMIC, built head, stock bottom end. fuel pump, fuel filter, pump gas, 20psi boost, bad fuel cut-out......... 247hp 319tq http://www.tristarion.com/phpBB2/profile.p...rofile&u=53 It doesn't take that much to do it, just a little bit of time and some work. take care, Kevin
  8. its all the same.....eclipse, 3000gt, starion, same harness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. My TB is different. I think it might be smaller. I have the 65mm. I modfied and polished my TB so it may look a little different. I added new pics with the TB on. I would appreciate it if you could get that part # off the TPS, i think it mounts the same way mine does. thanks, Kevin
  10. I haven't actually installed one yet, but I researched it and the part # for the harness is the same for the starquest as it is the eclipse. peace, Kevin
  11. Glad to finally have my MPI in hand, as you can see I have port and polished and polished the outside of it, took alot of hard work but i like to have some show with my go. http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/Magna_Pics/my-ECI-MPI.jpg http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/Magna_Pics/my-MPI.jpg My questions are: Where can I find a TPS to work on there? Mine didn't come with one and autozone didn't have any that look liked they would work( clockwise throttle rotation and counter TPS rotation) Are the intake studs on the head long enough to mount the manifold and the spacer? I will be running a aeromotive RRFPR.....what do I do with the stock one on the fuel rail? my guess is to leave the vacuum source unconnected and hook the outlet to the inlet of the RRFPR. Here is with everything installed.... http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/my_intake1.jpg http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/my_intake2.jpg http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/my_intake3.jpg thanks for all your help, Hopefully I will have everything done in 2 months. peace, Kevin 88esi-r 88tsi
  12. I'm with Tim on this, we had some probs at our shop with sandblasintg. Never sandblast anything that comes into contact with oil. You will loose your car really fast. Bearings will be torn to pieces. Its a nasty mistake and our shop learned the hard way. That silve finish you have is filled with tiny beads from the sandblasting. Just be careful and understand I am speaking from experience. good luck, peace, Kevin
  13. I would be in on this too, cop with red car would work or IMSA, need some posters to take to the car shows next year ;D keep us informed, peace Kevin 88esi-r 88tsi
  14. The G54B is the red headed step child, and by the way the red car pic in Modified is my car, and it will be back in the mag come next DSM shootout, except I will be beating some of the DSM's there. I work at a DSM performance shop and get sick of them knocking the G54B. I am around the ignorance all the time. Such fools. Plebani is a 4g63 nut, and has made some fast cars. He puts a 4g63 in everything frmo a porsche to a mighty max. Our shop is also friends with John Sheppard who all you dsmer's love and cherish. Hes a really nice guy to talk to, and doesn't knock the G54B. I can't believe these couple of fools come onto our boards spouting off with the ignorance i have just read through. Maybe if I posted a 10page list of conquests in the 12's it would be acceptable. Yeah, so many starquests to go around and do that *hint of sarcasm* , 4:1 ratio dsm to conquest.......not in a million years. Sakuras car has the full article in NOV issue of Modified. Yeah hes runing mid 8's with no Nitrous yet. yeah, holy s*** thats fast. Should be 7's next season with the juice. That poor team barely has enough sponsors to race with, thats ashame. G54B just needs some love. I just had to get that s*** off my back, since I hear it every day at work with the ignorant fools in there. DSM's are bad, for many reasons, obviously known (buscar plebani shepard) but by no means is the old g54b lacking potential, its just hidden a little more. Also note, With my setup and STOCK INJECTORS i got 248hp 319 tq...just as a baseline for tuning my car. I beat DSM's in street races all the time, especially once we hit 3rd gear. Like Boosted mentioned, Torque is very deceiving. Thats how the G54B makes up for 7500rpm redline. No other 4cyclinder has those torque #'s. Enough trash talk, I'm unleashing my car after the rebuild this winter, at the DSM shootout. Internals done, 18G or bigger, SDS and MPI. Let the ET's do the talking. Let mitsu's be mitsu's peace, Kevin
  15. Could someone fill me in on wide band o2's. Are they just used on dynos? Do people use them in their car? I have read their very accurate, but also heard their price is heavy. I just need to be filled in on wide band o2's. I'm going to be running 450-500hp next year and I know nothing about wide band o2's. ignorance is bliss and a recipe for disaster. thanks all, Kevin 88 red esi-r 88 purple tsi
  16. I know some people were in progress of trying to make this work, could you share what you did? The wiring is crazy and it is going to take alot of wiring. Or if anyone has a schematic of the technica digital dash that would help too. thanks Kevin
  17. I understand i need more fuel, I just didn't want to waste all my money on AIC. That is why I dynoed it, and now its down for the winter rebuild, which will have aussie MPI, 750cc injectors, and a bulletproof bottom end. I have a ton of mods on the car, and the mods are set up for my system after this winter, i am running stock bottom end with built up head, 2.5" intercooler piping is too big when its going down to 48mm TB, and a crappy injection system with an intercooler meant for a bus. I really just wanted to see how that dyno compares for having stock injectors, and see what kind of power I would have been making if more fuel were supplied. thanks for all the replys and posting the picture of the dyno run. peace, Kevin
  18. I just dynoed my car today for the first time and was a little disappointed. My 3rd run was my best at 20psi on 18G. I hit major fuel cut since I'm running stock new injectors, high flow filter and fuel pump. My head is built up and my intercooler and turbo setup can be seen on car of the month on www.tristarion.com . I would like to know from some more experienced members, how those HP and TQ curves look, and if I had more fuel what kind of numbers would I have got. How about those torque figures, they seemed alright. this link should work: http://www.tristarion.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=117 thanks for any advice you can give, Keivn 88esi-r
  19. I have one installed w/ perma cool fans and it barely fits. The radiator is too big, so your gonna have to remove the bottom bracket and cut pieces of the frame and hood out to make it fit. It keeps the engine so cool in the summer. good luck kevin 88tsi 88esi-r
