  1. Just for arguments sake, no, they borrowed Lotus's DOHC crossflow heads that were NOTORIOUS for cracking under high boost. I'd LOVE a Spirit R/T with the DOHC crossflow head, but the first thing I would do would be to go get a Neon head and swap it over. For what it's worth, the original non-crossflow heads stayed on Turbo Is, IIs and IVs until 93, when the turbo cars (unfortunately) disappeared.
  2. Only the 89s had the Auto-Down switch, I believe. How's the stock steering wheel? Also, I could use the wiper cowls and passenger side dash vents. Not a sunroof car by any chance, is it?
  3. You, sir, are my hero. I'm headed to Pull a Part today, and I have a pretty good feeling they have more Exploders than Starquests. Shoot me a PM with what you want for the 89 shipped to 37188. Thanks!
  4. My '85 Omni GLH-T was multi-port from the factory. Not sure about 84s.
  5. Welcome, David. Nice corral of cars. In watching your video, the last time I heard a turbo sound like that, it was in need of a rebuild (bearings making noise). Now, obviously, it's really difficult to fully diagnose it on an internet video, but the whistling is quite loud. (To be honest, I kinda liked how it sounded. ) Best of luck working on the car, and PLEASE don't drift it (look in the BS forum for carnage from recent drifting by some members...)
  6. The guts of the sunroof mechanism on my 89 are gone, meaning no worky at all. I just need the mechanism (both inside the car and on the glass), not the actual sunroof glass itself. The display module in the car has no mounting ears left and is in pretty rough shape. Let me know what you got, doesn't have to be in perfect condition, as I'll probably be buying some of the overlays from natallica, but would like it to be mounted solidly. Finally, in my stupidity, this weekend I forgot that 23 year old, sun-baked plastic doesn't really like to move easily, and I broke the driver's side half of the wiper cowl. Thanks!
  7. Responded to my need for Starion badges, acted quickly, shipped the next morning after receiving payment, received in 2 days via UPS and the badges are in great shape. Buy from this guy, he rocks!
  8. Was this a sunroof car, by chance? I need the entire sunroof mechanism (but not the glass). Also, if you have the stock steering wheel in good condition, I'd be interested. I'll shoot a PM as well.
  9. Is it just my ComCrap connection, or is Jalopnik having an epic fail right now? I see no thing.
  10. ^This. When I first started watching the US version, I was trying to look at it and compare it to the UK version. Comparatively, it's not nearly as good. However, if you view it and just enjoy it for what it is, independent of the name "Top Gear" I think you'll come to appreciate it. I know this, I've had a good number of literal LOL moments watching it. My kids actually prefer it, due to the American humor they understand (versus the British humour (see what I did there?) they don't).
  11. Wow, that's just plain gorgeous! Give us underhood shots next.
  12. I've heard that the BOV is most effectively when closely coupled with Throttle Body, as it vents a lesser amount of metered air that way. I know that's how I've seen it most cars, and it kind of makes sense, though I question how it affects drive-ability...
  13. Was that $50 for just the pod for $50 for the pod with gauges?
  14. Need some interior parts as well: passenger side air vents, steering wheel, sunroof possibly? Thanks!
  15. You're killin' me, man! Radio stations used to record commercials (and other stuff) on carts (cartridges) that looked a lot like an 8 track tape. They were rerecordable literally thousands of times (and then they'd just begin to sound awful). The cart machines that were the cart players (think an 8 track player) could be hooked up to a trigger source that would automate the playing of the spots. It's how your radio stations went from being local to being satellite driven.
  16. No, they fire a 16Hz tone (used to work in radio, that's the only reason I know the frequency) that used to trigger cart machines to play spots. Now, I'm guess it fires either the digital cart machines or the computer to signify the start of a commercial break.
  17. I'm kind of the opposite from you as I can only hear to about 18kHz, but I can hear down to 15Hz. Those radio tones are REALLY annoying when you can hear them (the ones they use to fire off their spots from a syndicated show).
  18. I either drive a 2000 Subaru Legacy GT (2.5L N/A) or my wife's 2002 Volvo V70 XC (Light-pressure Turbo 5). I'm really thinking strongly about trading the Legacy for a boosted Daily Driver (like a Saab or Volvo turbo from the late 90s). Wish I had the scratch for some of the other cars on here!
  19. Newbie question: were the TD and A that are missing (on the turbo compressor housing) typically not cast in the housing? I've never seen that before, and honestly it looks really strange.
  20. Looks like somebody jumped on it before I got the chance. Hope it was somebody on here that's willing to share.
  21. Wow, 5 band, even better. As far as the out to preamp back to HU question, I've never seen any regular HU be able to do that. Now, the old Premier P9s had their own outboard DSP system, but that's not quite the same thing. I would actually recommend against the 10 band EQ anyway, because it's most likely graphical and won't give you the level of control that a 5-band parametric would. Take the opportunity to play with the Q factors when dialing in your system. I think you'll be surprised how much it matters.
  22. So, you're saying do it? If so, I'll be happy to purchase and then donate to StarquestGarage, if that's still being maintained.
  23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360428729736&ssPageName=ADME:X:EAC:US:3160#ht_1557wt_1163 Just came across this the other day. Would this be what StarquestGarage.com needs for 1989?
