  1. I've never seen pinstripes on the hood like that. http://www.ebay.com/...em=181794222299
  2. White with red interior is about the worst combination in my opinion and being an 87 doesn't help either. There have been a lot of overpriced Starquests for sale recently. I know we want to see these cars appreciate in value but lets be realistic here, the demand has not exceeded the supply as of yet. Curious to see what this one brings. http://www.ebay.com/...=US_Cars_Trucks
  3. Best wishes on the recovery Shelby.Hope everything goes well.
  4. Glad to hear you doing well.I wish you a painless and speedy recovery.
  5. Yes Craig's list is a good suggestion. There are several in the Atlanta area. This one isn't pretty but at $250 it might get the job done http://atlanta.craig...4061323776.html
  6. If you have Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate you can use Vista's Shadow Copy feature to restore the file. Not sure if that feature is in the home version. Right click on the parent folder and choose "Restore Previous Versions".It will list the dates and the contents of the folder for each day going back approx 30 days.Look for the folder that's missing and restore from the latest date you found it in.Just drag and drop the folder to where ever you want it and it will restore the files. If that doesn't work you could also try a file recovery program like recuva. Good luck Shelby
  7. There was no drive ability issues with the Fidanza flywheel like others have reported. No idea where you got a flywheel shaved down, resurfaced and balanced for 75 bucks.Resurface and balance was a 100.Plus a few extra bucks for the Fidanza had it been installed correctly would have been well worth it to me.There was a noticeable seat of the pants difference in performance,I liked the way the engine revved. If it wasn't for the vibration it would still be on the car.IMO the car has plenty of torque to get off the line without 28lbs of flywheel,if I wanted to granny shift at 1800 rpm's every time I would buy an Accord. This is a Sunday car for me not a daily driver.I have my Audi S4 for that.I want the Quest to be loud and obnoxious and the 15lb flywheel helped in that regard. That being said I'm sure the money could have been spent on other mods or put towards MPI but at the time a new clutch was being installed - I thought "why not". I did get the transmission back in, the only issue is that the upper bolt for the starter doesn't want to tighten up.The bottom one is fine.I was in the process of removing the bolts and taking a look when it started pouring out.Tomorrow is another day.
  8. Ok, so the Fidanza was installed incorrectly years ago and the dowel pin hole has been getting more rounded as time went by explaining the increase in vibration. It's to much trouble to go through the proper install of the Fidanza for me at this point. It will go back in (after I take it to a machinist to make sure it's ok) when the motor needs a rebuild .The stock flywheel that I'm putting back on is out of a parts car that was hit in the front. That's where the damage came from.I took it to a machinist and had him make sure it wasn't warped and then had him resurface and balance it.The tranny should be back in today. One curious note:the SPEC stage 2 clutch was melted to the pressure plate,I had to pry it off.The flywheel side looked fine.I'm going to replace the slave and clutch master cylinders along with any hoses that are involved.I might as well just replace it all while I'm at it. Thanks for all the help guys, it's much appreciated.
  9. I'm going back to a stock flywheel because ever since the Fidanza was installed there has been a vibration in the car.Very slight, almost unnoticeable at first but getting worse over time. Now it drives me crazy,It's especially bad cruising at certain rpm's and on decel.I've replaced all the drive train mounts and checked the normal things,(exhaust rub, wheel balance, drive shaft/u joints etc).just could never find it.A couple weeks back the clutch would not disengage, depressing the clutch pedal did nothing,I was able to get it into neutral and It started fine, but it wouldn't shift into gear.I had a couple buddies give a push and was able to get it into 2nd once she was rolling and then got it home. I figured I'd start with a resurfaced balanced stock flywheel and a new clutch to see if that fixes the issue. This is the 2nd clutch since the Fidanza flywheel replacement.I haven't driven it more than 15k.I'm no mechanic but as far as I can tell all signs point to the flywheel.I'm going to take the Fidanza to the machine shop and have it checked. All the flywheel bolts were nice and tight.I had to use a 1/2 breaker bar to break them loose. Is there a write up for the proper installation of a flywheel? I thought you just bolted it on and torqued to 94 ft lbs.
  10. I also noticed that the dowel pin hole on the Fidanza flywheel I removed was no longer round. The flywheel bolts were plenty tight. What would cause this? http://i53.tinypic.com/15dnacy.jpg
  11. Ok so I'm putting the new bearing into the flywheel and notice the outside edge is missing. It's just the outside corner that's damaged.Where the bearing sits is fine.Is the flywheel junk or can it be used?http://i53.tinypic.com/35iafeh.jpg
  12. With the help of a 4 foot 4x4 post and a few curse words it finally came off.
  13. I'm replacing my Fidanza flywheel and clutch. The clutch is off and I've got all the bolts out of the flywheel but the flywheel won't budge.I've tried a rubber hammer and a little prying but before I go at it to hard is there a technique or am I just not going at it hard enough?
  14. Amsoil appears to be the best oil looking at Johnny's post but when you look up the Starion on the Amsoil website they don't recommend any of their oils.I'm not feeling positive about that self incriminating bit of info. http://www.amsoil.co...BISHI+STARION+N Diaqueen is 100 bucks and comes in a 4 liter container, I only need 2.5 ...so after careful consideration it looks like the best choice is Redline MT90 sold for 13.49 per quart and ships for free from Amazon.
  15. I'm putting in a clutch/flywheel today and am having a hard time finding the correct tranny oil. I would prefer Diaqueen or Redline MT-90 but no one carries it locally. I would like to get this together today and the only local trans oils I could find where mostly GL5 spec.I'm hesitant to use GL5 as there are so many differing opinions as to the corrosive ingredients in GL5 that may cause the soft metals in our older transmissions to corrode. I did find Royal Purple Max Gear 75w-90 which says it meets both the GL4 and GL5 specs.Quote "The noncorrosive nature of Max-Gear provides excellent results in applications for both GL-4 and GL-5 fluids" After searching numerous forums regarding this topic there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer out there. I've put a call into Royal Purple and they are going to get back to me but does anyone have experience with this particular oil in our cars?
  16. Burton and AJ you make some great points. We've all done and made poor decisions.Forgive the bible reference here but "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone" Ryan is definitely to blame - no question.Obviously 130mph sober is a ridiculous speed to be traveling but to say he deserved to die is callous and unfeeling. Legally...DUI,Wreckless driving, excessive speed and all the other tickets he would he received=loss of license, fines, community service,at the worst maybe a few days in jail - that's what the LAW says he deserved - the death penalty - really?? P.S. - It's highly unlikely that he's going to smash into a mini van filled with kids at 2am in the morning.
  17. Doctors are like mechanics, not all of them are good.3 Doctor's had no clue, 4th one bingo..that's why I tell people especially when your dealing with your health keep trying different avenues until you get the answer you want.Glad your finally going to get some relief Shelby
  18. How about the old bowling ball over the door trick? There are so many ways to tell if someone enters your house.A tiny piece of string or paper in the door so if opened it falls.A piece of thread tied to the door knob so if opened it breaks etc..I would find out if someone is entering first before you spend any money. If there is someone coming into your house then you can figure out what type of surveillance you need.I personally would wait in the closet with a baseball bat.
  19. Your right as usual Shelby. It's dependent upon which state your in but generally unemployment compensation is paid out from a pool of money that is created by employers. The more money they pay out in wages the more money they must contribute. That money is administered by the unemployment compensation folks.Employees do not directly contribute to unemployment compensation but without the employees there is no company and no money so to me it's a what comes around goes around type of thing. There's no shame in collecting.
  20. I'm going to spend next week in Vegas.I'm sure there is plenty to see and do but local knowledge is always best.Anyone have any advice on what to see and what not to?
  21. Where are the parents in this situation? Who is teaching the younger generation? Kids are the parents responsibility period. There are exceptions but for the most part children are a direct reflection of the parents not on society. They decide what comes into the house.I think the problem is that we have moved from a one provider to a 2 provider household system. No longer is Mom the primary caregiver who stays home and makes sure you do your homework & eat your vegetables. The economy no longer allows one provider households as the norm, the divorce rate is over 50%.To split a child's time between, daycare, babysitter, grandma, mom & step dad,dad & step mom etc doesn't kill the children true but it's far from the best case scenario. The world is a changing. The Beaver Cleaver existence of the 50's where there was only one Eddie Haskell in the neighborhood is no more. Were starting to see a society that's to busy or to indifferent to put the time in it takes to properly raise children.Hard to fully blame the parent's though, they don't want to both work but they don't have a choice. The American standard of living is far from what it used to be.
  22. It's just more scare tactics,to make us think were all in "eminent danger".Honestly...to live in a "free society" you are going to take some losses period. It's just that simple. You can't weed out all the quacks before s*** happens without handcuffing everyone. How big of a threat is this really? Are planes blowing up all the time? What are the odds of you getting blown up in a plane? So freaking small that I'm not the least bit concerned, and it not due to the tougher standards. This is just more drummed up hysteria and people are just nodding their head accepting these invasions and moving on.America has no more balls - we are so easily led by fear and media hype it's sickening.Just one more injustice on an ever lengthening list that we have to suffer.Let the conditions fit the risk, they are way out of balance here.
  23. There's a ton of work there, very nice car! Personally I would sell a kidney first. lol Good luck with the sale!
