Good advice. Theres a gap between the exhaust manifold and head surface. I can stick a med sized flat head between the gap. And its on that back where the stripped hole is. Warped?

This one makes me seriously consider adding another Quest to my collection of cars. Might have to sell the Trans Am for this...

Fund someone selling a complete engine, used. Asking 150. Is it worth that? AC compressor and alternator attached.

Took my Quest to a place for a tinting quote and the guy insisted it was a supra...even tho i told him several times it is not. Durrrrrrr....

Mentioned in another post, my car smokes at start after sitting for awhile. Usually its short lived but it smoked for several minutes today. Checked a plug, normal light brown appearance. Oil is normal, no coolant in it. Smoke smells like rich exhaust. I turned it off, let it sit for awhile, started again and not that much smoke as cold start...but still smelled rich. Before i 100% assume its valve stem seals, could it be turbo seals? Somone mentioned thatin a post but i cant find the post now.

Anyone ever try to make a clear hood or hood scoop type? I've often wondered what it would take to make one for my Trans Am...and now that I have a Quest...possibly one for it. Probably a clear window, not the entire hood. What would be the best material? Plexiglass?

Don't have a heat shield so that makes it easier. Just the fat-tail pipe off the turbo that might be in the way. Thanks guys for all the help! This gal with the stranded Fiji really appreciates it!

Wouldn't it just be easier to tap a slightly larger hole and use a bolt to fit that? I have a drill with a right angle attachment...But Its not short. Can't really afford to go out and buy another drill just for this....the helicoil kit was 45 bucks already.

It is the last bolt by the firewall.

Bought my kit today. Plan to fix tomorrow.

And yes, that's the helicoil kit I need. I've never had to use a helicoil, is it fairly easy? Hope it comes with instructions. Lol.

It was a complete restoration, a little modified over stock, and I paid quite a bit for it....i have pics of it in my profile gallery....that's why I bought it so I wouldn't have to do major work on another car.....I already have one mechanical a***************, didn't want another one. Now it sits in my garage, like my trans am did for many months. I understand there will be gremlins on a new rebuild, but a stripped hole already or possible warped exhaust manifold? Those are pretty basic things to be checked before reassembly I would think. Well, that's what I checked when I put my trans am back together. Here are the issues I need to fix so far..... Stripped hole Wite smoke on start up (that's how I noticed the bolt from the smoke puffed out of the gap from the engine compartment) Leaking steering gear box and return hose Oil cooler line leak (I hope I fixed that this weekend) That is my to do list so far.
