Oh and the voltake reads at just above 1/4

So yesturday I left my car at work and got a ride home from someone. I drove my other car to work today and tried to start my quest and she fired right up without hesitation. she ran for about a minute to 2 minutes then I shut her off. I went to start her again after I did some PT and she is back to the nothing she was doing yesturday... I don't get it. How does a problem fix itself and then happen again? does this sound like a starter to anyone? It is manual, I havent tried the hitting the starter thing yet, will try that when I can get a break at work.

everything is connected and I tried the wire brush... Still nothing.

Thoughts are good, I'll give that a shot too. it just sucks cause she is my daily and i need her to get to and from work and I have a 40 minute commute and in the little time ive had her this is the second thing crippling me. I get its 22 yrs old but it still sucks...

I messed with the fusable links, even the ones behind that black plate. no sound, still no start...

everything that works normally when the car is just in the on position before starting still works. only change from normal is when i turn the ignition to start nothing happens except i hear what i think it the fuel pump

My 89 quest will not start. I am still getting volts from the battery but she wont even try to turn over. I just hear what I think is my fuel pump running... I started and drove it to work this morning without a problem. But now its lunch and i was trying to get some food and ship off an owed turbo to someone... I live 40+ minutes from work so she is my only ride home in 4 hrs... Is there some kind of trick or anything to get her to start? I think it could be an alternator or starter? I'm not sure cause I'm not mechanicly inclined. It had an amp hooked up but i just disconnected it, It was in when i bought it like 1.5 mnths ago. Please help anybody

well I'm Army so i work all those days, but I get off early thursdays and home around 330 or 4 on those days. I could probably take a day off, just say i have an appointment or something. But I still dont have the parts, I'm waiting for shipment on an oil cooler, radiator overflow resiviour, turbo to exaust manifold gasket, studs for same area and washers and nuts of course.

Not to far huh? bring your tools, lol.

Does anyone know if autozone will lend out tools? lol all I have is a bunch of Gerbers and Leathermans... Tools are on my christmas list!

Haha thanks. Ive never really worked on a car of my own, always just take it to a mechanic but I figure I'm 26 and this is my first "toy" (as the girlfriend refers to it), I should do what I can by myself, lol. With of course the knowledgeable help of other starquest owners. Maybe it will feel better owning it knowing I'm the one putting in all the work.

When I install the ES72645 Turbo Mounting gaskets from dad do I need to apply any type of lube to them? Will they come already lubed if I ordered them from dad? please let me know, thanks

I have a left over turbo that I recieved with the car when i purchased my 89 quest a month ago. I was going to keep it as a spare and also cause I didnt really know about what to sell it for or how to estimate shipping prices. But I need a new oil cooler with fittings and gaskets, radiator overflow resivior w/ rubber hoses and mounting bracket and some studs and washers for the turbo to exaust manifold part. I dont have money so I just have this to sell or trade. I dont know what these go for buuuuut I know i have to list a price so $100 plus shipping OBO. I would also take those parts for a strait trade. I can email pics later tonight. I'm using my iphone and cant upload pics to this site. -Brady

This is my first Quest. I traded my MacBook and $500 for her. She is a little rough but I feel it was well worth it. She runs rich so she sputters when i step on it but other then that problem the quest just needs a new drivers seat, center consol, oil cooler and a good tune up. Oh yeah and a paint job and WHEELS!!! I don't like the ones on it at all!! lol.

Pretty much what the topic says. I go to make a gallery and upload pictures but there are just two browse buttons and when i select a picture I cant go any further. Theres no button for me to press or anything. I'm not sure if it's cause I'm on a govt computer or if there is a problem with the site. Anyone else having this problem?
