How does your air intake hose look? Could be a possibility your sucking in unmetered air causing lumpy idle and lean driving conditions. Check for cracks and vacuum leaks!

Isn't the O2 sensor for boost only? Idle and part throttle is closed loop boost is open?

I don't really think it matters what size intercooler you get, just keep in mind that with stock boost the bigger intercooler you get the more lag, IMO the hardest part is with piping, unless your going to be running mpi eventually??? Also idk about you but I opted against upgrading my intercooler because I didn't want to trim anything Up front for a bigger intercooler. I believe that *DM has a 4" thick intercooler bolt on kit.

I'm pretty sure starquests don't use a heated O2 sensor, and generally use a 1 wire O2 with a Shielded ground on ecu end.

Also make sure to check your codes at full operating temps or else you could get a O2 sensor code.

Go get an led from radio shack and plug both ends of it into the port in glove box and it will blink the codes for you!!!!!

If you use the 1G MAS on an 88/89 you don't need to worry about a FCD because it already has like a 20psi cut already!!! Then add the mas on top your looking at 22-23 psi without fuel cut. Since the op has an 86 I'm assuming, it would raise fuel cut for him but only by a few psi. If you do decide you want to run a 1g dsm maf let me know as I have one for sale. I have a 1g mas a 1g BOV and a 1g steering wheel.. Was planning on using on my starion but I sold it and bought a 4runner.
