  1. Glad yours found a home besides the crusher. I have assorted pics of mine, but not in one place like Car Domain. I did most of the work some 7-8 years ago now. Easiest thing to get a look is to go to the 4x4Wire.com Mitsu forum and search for my past threads. I have the same username there. Most of my topics included "87 SWB Rebuild" in them. I don't hang out on this SQ forum too much. Feel free to email me from the addy in my 4x4Wire profile. (Can't find where to set the same in my profile here for SQC.)
  2. Any rust? I have a chopped top 87 that has a SQ motor swapped. Have been considering going back to a full tin top and windows. Thinking that if I ever found a non-runner with a decent body, I'd swap the turbo drivetrain over. Or, I have a spare tranny, if you would rather keep the rig. For those who have asked on the KM132, the tail section is longer but the truck's can be swapped right over. (Remember that the truck's tranny is mated to the t-case.) The other difference is the first two gears on the truck are lower.
  3. Ditto if jszucs passes. I'll take it. Email to me is best. -Thx
  4. Joe came by and we had a few and talked a bit too. Great guy! That's what I love about cars and forums. Lots of nice people to meet along the way... :D/
  5. Hmm, I feel I owe Derek dibs at this point. If he changes his mind...
  6. Hey Derek! Yeah, ping me when you're back. Come over either way. I have the the big tires on (no more tipsy ) and it is running pretty nice- for a truck at least.
  7. Doh! Location would be nice for something that needs picking up... I thought my profile had loc, like on 4x4wire. I'll have to add. I am in Cleveland, Ohio area. I'll try to get some pics.
  8. Yeah, Derek got them the first few days after, sorry. As for my engine, it was worth him driving over for me as there was a mis-plumbing in the vac lines. Even so, it dod not greatly improve things. Also, dizzy vac advance passes the basic suck-and-hold test. Injectors also pass the swith clips and look in the TB test. it is running much better though, for one reason in particular, and maybe a second related. - I used the SQ IC pipes, with a little extending here and there via 1.75" exhaust pipe. I noticed that the long curved one that starts from the turbo looked a little flat. Did some fanagling and looking with a flashlight and sure enough, the closed hood was hitting it. I made some tweaks to the routing and got it pretty much cleared up. - Now it starting pulling better, and getting past 4k rpms, though still not too strong past. I know the basics about the motor only revving so far and all that. But still it seemed to be falling short of expectations. - I then went the hillybilly route to test a little and got some flexible exhaust and a little more hard pipe. I now have pretty much the whole IC route hard-piped as it were. (Though the flex I am pretty sure leeks some at the seems.) - Now it is really running better and has truly become fun to drive. - Amazing what a little more air flow will do... (I know- 101 sutff...) I am now chomping hard at the bit to do some real 2.25" ICs and get a 2.5 DT and bigger exhaust from there. Thanks for the thoghts...
  9. Here is another offering from "Bill's Garage Fire Sale..." Doing some cleaning, but can't bear to just it to the yard for scrap. You guys here were helpful when I was doing my swap. It can be picked up if you leave some beer behind. (Imports or micro brews please. ) I have manual tranny that was an extra that came with the 87 donor for my turbo swapped Montero. Sorry, but I don't have any more details. If there are any markings to look for that help, let me know. Ride On, Bill
  10. Hey Derek: Is your Quest on the road? If you can drive it over, I'll trade you the tires for some time under your hood. My donor quest had the top end all apart. The guy I got it from assured me it was running before he started in on a head job. I'd say he was full of it though as the gasket below the TB was shot and when I started for the first time it immediately started dumping coolant into the cylinders. Anyways, I have an issue with power dropping off once I go past 4k RPMs. The first thing I want to do is trace all vacuum lines (his were "in tact"). I would love to have a properly running car to look at to do that. I'm in Fairview Park. If you're game and this weekend is even an option for you, email me at bill.mcvicker@triventure.com. I'll get it on my handheld faster than I might log back in here. Thanks, Bill
  11. I have a set of wheels from an 87 that was a donor for my turbo swapped Montero. They are all in solid shape, but a refinishing would be needed if all the paint on your car is in great shape. They have rubber, but not enough to create any real additional value. The fronts are nearly to the wear bars, the rears are better. I have a local ad running, but no real activity. Doing some cleaning, but can't bear to just take them to the yard for scrap. You guys here were helpful when I was doing my swap. They can be picked up if you leave some beer behind. (Imports or micro brews please.) Greater Cleveland area (Go Cavs, beat the Spurs...). Best bet is to email me if interested. Ride on, Bill
  12. The gullwing (you guys have probably seen this I'm sure...) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.stacey1/gullwing/gullwing.jpg As for the Lambo door, these guys seem to have a how-to CD that includes parts sourcing. Anybody know about them? http://www.supie.com/pg.html
  13. I've been reading the threads on this. An exotic-car door obviously would be very slick. I saw a pic recently on a gull-wing setup. Has that been pondered? I guess it would be a hell of a lot of cutting. But man did it look hot in the pic!
