  1. Anyone have any other ideas? Am I looking at a new injector?
  2. BTW also put on the new TPS i had on the shelf tonight and set it .50 volts just to rule that out!
  3. was running it hard today in the heat. Stalled when i got home, fired it and let it cool down, stalled again, let it sit for about two hours and started to crank and crank and crank it over, finally started, but it ran like crap. Got it in the garage, pulled all the saprk plugs and they were pretty white (lean). Did a compression test, all were 130-135 and had good spark. Had the injectors cleaned, flow tested, and new clips last summer, rebuilt TB the year before that. All new fuel filters this year. I loosened the fuel line going into the TB and had alot of pressure there. Pulled the top of the TB off and held the injectors in place while buddy cranked the engine. Nothing spraying out of the primary injector. Put a DMM on the injector plug and got 12 volts when the key was on and 9.5 when it cranked?????? Is this normal and if it is, is my primary injector junk? When I did get it started to get it in the garage, I had to be on the gas to get it to stay running. Now I can't get it to start at all. Just before that, it ran really good so I'm thinking its not timing at all. Any suggestions? Best place to get a primary?
  4. Phillip, Did you make your own kit for the ABS bypass, or did you buy it somewhere? I just got my hoses from 3sx (nice kit) and I'm planning on the bypass myself, just curious? Thanks, Chris
  5. Original '87 brochure says flatty 145hp @ 5000 rpm, 185 ft/lbs @ 2500 rpm. TSi is 176hp @ 5000 rpm, and 223 ft/lbs @ 2500 rpm
  6. Going to be buying new skins for my 87 with 7's in the front and 8's in the back (stock). I want all the opinions as to what works and what doesn't for tire sizes, width, handling, and curbside appeal. I see the fronts can go to 225/50/16, but the backs, some say 255/45/16, 245/50/16, or 245/45/16! Some say that the wider tires make the rear sway/break loose easier. If the rear sidewalls will flex more being a wider tire, why doesn't the front sway more/feel softer? I have qoutes for maxis and uniroyal tiger paw, they have a tread wear rating of 400. I have a set of firehawks, stock size on the backs now that have a tread wear rating of 220. I like to break those loose and get sideways every once and a while (they are very predictable). I'd like to get the same feeling and I'm not sure those "qoute tires" are going to do the job. Again, I'm looking for all opinions! Thanks, Chris
  7. I found one, brand new, just want to know how much its worth!
  8. Whats a fair price for a new bare marnel head?
  9. I'm into almost 30 day into the supreme 90 day workout (generic p90x system) picked it up at duhnams sports for $20! Its a great workout you can do at home, but I suggest doing it with a friend or spouse to keep yourself going!. Get yourself some dumb bells and a cheap exercise ball, your good to go. getting ripped and loving it, its not too hard, but it will challenge you! I lost about 4 lbs, but lost more inches than I did pounds, pants are loose and shedding fat! It works, I didn't have any idea how to exercise, this system shows you how!
  10. Not saying they are all bad, but my dad, ex-wife, and I all had brand new sets of kumhos put on our vehicles. We all had to replace at least one after about 5k miles because a belt let loose in them. Different service stations too. Left a bad taste in my mouth, won't go back too them.
  11. http://www.zcarsource.com/1970-78_8_53759.html check this place out!
  12. anyone know how much fluid is in our systems roughly? I was looking through the FSM this morning and didn't see the capacity listed!
  13. Replacing the MC and all the hoses, 280z reservoirs, deleting the abs and going to dot 5 fluid. Any thoughts or comments on going to synthetic fluid. Some people say dot 5 won't mix with dot 3, but from what i've found` on the net, seems like they will. Is it brand spacific?
  14. 87 manual isn't available, 88 the same?
  15. Going to go through the fuel system on my 87 tsi this winter while shes laid up in storage. Have all the filters on hand and want to start with the in-tank filter. Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated, I'm assuming I have to drop the tank. Is there anything i have to look out for? Thanks in advance
  16. Thanks, that will be my number one priority in spring. The brake fluid is really crappy looking, I'm gonna get some new braided brake hoses all around, a new master cylinder and flush the entire system. Its all original yet, this was my dads car he bought new in 87 and was really neglected the last ten years he had it. Just turned 81K original tho.
  17. Can't find any leaks anywhere! I'll deal with it in spring, have enough stuff to rebuild/replace this winter!
  18. If thats the case, (I'll check this afternoon) then the master cylinder is junk then right?
  19. Just started to happen last week. The brake pedal is real soft, and will slowly go down to the floor at a stop. If i pump it a second time, they are hard and stay that way! Thinking the booster is bad, but not sure. Haven't done any brake work in 10K miles, and ran real good all summer long. was going to put it away this week, snow in the forcast!
