  1. Thanks for all the great help. The problem is fixed. I sold it to a mechanic, who has been wanting one for a long time. So it has a good home.
  2. It does it when the engine is cold or hot and at any rpm.
  3. Car runs great then next time I start it, it runs too rich. Shut it off then restart it runs either better or great. Shut it off and I never know how its going to run next time I turn the key. Fuel pressure rmains the same. Could it be the MAF or injectors? It seems like a switch is being thrown.
  4. I still have the rims but the tires aes shot, $400 extra.
  5. http://s1115.photobucket.com/albums/k542/stonetree1/ Here are the pics, it needs new paint in places.
  6. I am in south east kansas. I can e-mail pics but can't figure out how to get my pics to upload correctly.
  7. For sale 1986 Conquest TSI Widebody. Copper in color with black leather and 5spd. I have replaced: fuel pump, fuel filters, exhaust manifold gaskets, cv boots(repacked joints), front wheel seals(packed the bearings), plug wires, plugs, belts, and a new Greddy bov all in the last 3 months. I have also installed fuel filter, tie rod end, ball joint, half the fusible links(just looked old), hard pipes, oil sending unit and I forget what else. Looks like the balance shafts have been eliminated along with egr stuff and whatever else that dead weight. A/C and heater works. Has newer style MAF and autometer boost gauge. Comes with the following spare parts: intercooler, rebuildable turbo and misc parts which I have bought on this sight that will not fit an 86. I am selling it because some of the parts that were bought on this sight will not fit this car. I don't mind buying parts if they will work, but no more buying anymore parts from here and hoping I will get the right part and waiting weeks to get the wrong part. The car ran great until the 1st of the year when all of a sudden it started to run for 10 second intervals and die. I think its either the knock box or the MAF. I have a supposedly 86 MAF sensor and an supposedly 86 MAF pigtail to convert it back to original, but of course they do not match so I can't try that out. I paid for a knock box, that I have never received and am still waiting for a refund. So if a person could find the RIGHT parts they would have a great running car. It was my daily driver until this happened and now I have given up on finding the correct parts. It's yours for $1,250. I had some pics and will post as soon as I can find them.
  8. Needing a good working igniter or knock box for an 86 conquest.
  9. Looking for a good working knock sensor for an 86 conquest. Also looking for the pigtail for the MAF.
  10. Switched injectors with the spares and would not even start. Checked sparkplugs- black soot all over them. Time to get injectors cleaned or replaced and plugs also. How much for an igniter?
  11. Is the igniter the same thing as the coil, do you have a part # or picture of it? Also I don't have a sensor in my aftermarket OVCP. Could that be a problem? It ran good without one and I don't see a place to mount one. Is there a way to test the MAP?
  12. I was thinking the same thing so I changed the values and came up with the same results. Next I used another meter and still got the same reults. Either I am really bad at using these meters or I got bigger problems. Great minds think alike.
  13. Not yet, I don't have the 86 pigtail yet. Can the MAS quit just like that? If so it sounds like I need to find a pigtail ASAP. Definetly is worth a try. Thanks.
  14. Finally got the quest inside where I can work on it. Runs like crap for 15 seconds then dies. Smells rich. Checked plugwires (5 months old) visually, same with plugs all look undamaged. Swapped TPS made no difference. Checked resistance on injectors and that resistor "thingy" mounted behind the passenger headlight, all 0 ohms. The manual says to replace all, but my injectors always have measured 0 ohms even when it ran good. I have a spare throttle body and the injectors on it measure 0 ohms also. Plugged a noid light into injector connectors, barely lit up and was steady with hardly any flash or pulse visible. Thinking about swapping injectors with the ones on the sprare 86 throttle body. Any ideas?
  15. I am looking for a TPS(maybe the whole throttle body)and the MAF wiring harness. Not sure if I need these next two, but if the price is right a MAP sensor and barometric sensor.
  16. Need for my daily driver(86 conquest) a good working TPS. And a MAF harness. Also if the price is right, a MAP sensor and a Barometric sensor.
  17. I unplugged what I think is the MAP sensor and now it will idle(barely)but it does'nt die, awesome. It has 3 vacum lines and 2 male spade terminals. It's located near the firewall and one of the vacum hoses runs from it to a box mounted on the firewall. You guys are great, thanks. Now how much does a MAP sensor cost and are they still available?
  18. I did'nt do anything to the MAS. The reason I know its different from stock is I bought a stock 86 air can that came with a stock 86 MAS. Also the 86 manual showed a different pin setup. However your probably right about that being a problem area.
  19. Just found out that if I keep feathering the peddle after it starts, it we stay running barely. Should I try resetting the TPS?
  20. Pulled the OVCP and tuned the key to the on position. Could'nt see any gas dripping. What else could it be?
  21. Unplugged the CTS and it won't start. Plugged back in, it starts and runs for about 15 seconds. I bought a MAS from an 86. But I don't have the right pigtail for it since someone swapped in the newer MAS and pigtail in my car.
  22. I tried a set of Trilogy injectors a year ago trying to solve a bucking problem. The car would not even idle with them, I even reset the TPS twice trying to make them work. Trilogy let me return them after we confirmed the car is an 86. Somebody has swapped in a newer MAS, so that may be why they did'nt work for me. So I put the old injectors back in and it idled fine, until yesterday. I think the Trilogy injectors were good, just not good for my car.
  23. I tried unpluging the MAS when I first bought the car and it died. I don't believe it's one of the 86's that can run without it. But I am willing to try it again and let you know.
