  1. hello david...do you have an a/c control module? 87 differential? 87 transmission? it doesnt have to be 87 i just need something thats going to work. i live in houston so i can make the drive.
  2. wow mike...that was the best explanation for the drive system of a vehicle ive ever read....i couldnt tear anything apart today since it was snowing down here in houston...but this will help me alot when i do break it down. thanks for the thorough explanation. will try and post pics of what i find. i really cant wait to figure this out....i cant even sleep!!! lol
  3. alrighty bp, ill let u know ASAP when im ready...im having tranny issues right now but as soon as i sort that out this will be next. im going to break down the TBI and pinpoint this leak...i still dont know how this car is going to drive since the drivetrain is shot but ill be making alot of progress and will get back to you when im ready for some. you can beat 162 shipped...especially if it brings the starquest back to life.
  4. to indi: YES!!! both wheels turned!!! lol this is bothering the EFF outta me. with the tranny in neutral...both wheels turned the SAME DIRECTION....BUT the driveshaft didnt spin!!! lol take note the engine is off...couldnt get it started...fresh gas around the injectors. gonna get it running today. with the tranny in 1st gear...only 1 tire would spin...not both...and it sounded like something was clicking in the diff. when i moved the tire back and forth. put it back in neutral both tires spin no noise. with the back tires off the ground...tranny in neutral...shouldnt i be able to spin the driveshaft quite easily? shouldnt the driveshaft be spinning if the back tires are both moving? i have a VLSD and when i spin the axel shafts the yoke spins too....i think its startin to look like a locked up diff burnt up the clutch? do yall think theres a chance the transmissions shredded too??? bout to do some more test and get it runnin. let yall know what happens ASAP thanks for all the insights.
  5. if there is gasoline leaking around the injectors are the injectors bad???? my 87 conquest is stock...all it will have is 3 " exhaust, intercooler hard pipes/ bigger intercooler and prolly be runnin stock boost. ill eventually get the 16g...can stock injectors deliver enough juice for that turbo?? could i get some injectors that will run decent on the stock turbo then be sufficient enough for the 16g?i might settle for the 14c. i still have the 87 computer so stock boost is 10 right? im also running the stock MAF. i really only wanna boost max 16 pounds. im not tryin to break any records i just want some light mods and 200+ whp. i already have the 255 lph fuel pump. if stockies will work im interested. if i need something a lil bigger thats fine too.

  7. to MIKEC: When i had the car running...i put it in first gear and engaged the clutch. NOTHING happened BUT i did hear some chinga lingin sound coming from the rear of the engine/bellhousing. it sounded like something bouncin around. when i revved it the noise did nothing. it stayed the same chinga lingin...lol. am i correct saying with the engine running, the clutch pedal is engaged (regardless if the pedal works to operate the slave cylinder) i shouldnt be able to put it into any gear??? it would make a grinding sound correct??? if i am able to do this...it has to be the clutch??? i honestly dont know too much about the working of a manual driveline...like if something is broke the diagnostic point of view from it. thanks again for all the help this car is not your average joe...and i love it.
  8. thanks for the info mike. This is what i was able to accomplish this evening. I jacked up the rear end ( on the crossmember NOT the diff)had the car in neutral and turned the back wheels by hand. the driveshaft did NOT spin. both wheels spun together. i got under the car and tried to turn the driveshaft but would not turn. Now i put the tranny in first gear. only 1 tire would spin. and the driveshaft was not turning. so something locked up. i pushed in the clutch...same results I know i stated earlier that the car started up first time in 6 months. i got it home and started it a week later no problems. ive been really busy with some other projects i just havent messed with it. so its been sitting for 2 months. i tried starting it tonight and it wasnt happening. i checked around the injectors and sure enough gas is leaking out. a considerable amount had leaked out..not pouring...but leaking. Would this hinder the engine from starting? its pretty cold down here and i really didnt have a fully charged battery either. either way i need to repair it. whats the best way to go about refurbishing the intake manifold??? i plan on leaving it stock and using it as a part time DD. so i just need it to run good....which it did 2 months ago....thats the quietest engine ive ever heard...and it revved up soooo smooth with no hesistation. i havent driven under a load yet...obviously...BUT i know a good running engine when i see one. thanks again everybody for thw 0.02 cents. ill use every penny yall throw my way i super appreciate the help guys.

  11. ok....got outside and started pushin the car down the street...i can move it through the gears and nothing....nothing happens...no noise...no nothin......shot tranny???? anyone got any for sale close to houston texas???
  12. indeed indiana...ima have it out tomorrow and see where im at. the glass is totally busted...like shattered to a million pieces...where can i get a replacement? i cant take the car to any glass place for them to measure out and make one...so i was hoping i could order one offine??? thanks again indi.

  14. hey guys, Im new to the forum...just found yall today thanks for having me! I recently purchased an 87 conquest for next to nothing. interior is mint. engine bay looks ok...but im seeing some hack job with some of the wiring. anyways, the car starts beautifully. it was sitting for 6 months and it fires right up. i have all the maintenance records for the vehicle since i am the second owner. PROBLEM: with the car running, clutch depressed, gear in first, i let off the clutch to go and NOTHING! i got my friend to work the clutch and i watched the slave cylinder...it seems to move ok...BUT how can i put it in all the gears with the clutch engaged, car running, and NOTHING happen. ive been reading through the forums all day and read about the possible clutch linkage failure. but how could that explain me being able to put it in gear...clutch angaged with the car running??? i was thinking the clutch is totally shot...its not doing anything so no power is being transferred to the tranny??? also...when i was under the car...the slave cylinder installed...i could push the slave cylinder in about 1/2 maybe...then it stops. could a bad linkage/air in the system allow these things to happen? im really new with conquest and i dont wanna start tearing things apart and blowing money on things that wont fix it. thank yall for the help its giving me nightmares i really need this car running. lol i have the starquest fever and theres no cure!!! any help is much appreciated. also...whats the best way with getting glass for the pop top roof??? my was busted when i bought it...rock flew from a lawn mower...thanks again
