I used the stock starion oil pump because it is better then made a custom pick up tube for the front sump montero pan works realy good. So my stock turbo should be the 14g because it came out of a starion A/T? So indiana Would the 16g be worth the swap? Its an 4 speed Auto, I looked up the turbo I have and its a "Big 16g" So I have to do a little fab work but nothing big to bolt it on.The turbo is brand new and came with a nice mandrel 2.5 down pipe which is perfict because thats what I have turbo back. I just want gobbs of low end because thats were I need it. In 4wheel low this thing pulls like crazy. I am very impressed with the starion performance and its a night & day difference and hauls tail with 33's

I have a new 16g turbo I could put on my 87 montero, (By the way its a 87 starion motor) My question is Should I just rebuild the stock one or swap them out? I went 4wheeln this weekend and really liked the low end torque and the stock turbo spooled nicely:) Will I loose that if I swap in the bigger turbo? The one I have now May have a leeky oil seal and it smokes when im warming it up in the morning then goes away when its warmed up. If some one here has a good one I could rebuild I may be interested. Thanks for your input.

Has anyone here ran one of these turbos before? And if so How did you do your install and IC piping to it?

Sounds easy enough, I shoud feel a diffrence with this new turbo from what I hear. I did get a down pipe with the turbo as shown here. I am using the stock manifold for now but will be building a Header soon.

Here is the turbo you cannot see the flange for the outlet side but I think you have seen them before. I dont want to get of topic here but can you change the inlet side of the turbo to a 16g non flange style?

Wow thanks for the good info, I will say the Oil separator is not hooked up all the way. The line going to the pan is capped off. The Separator is hooked up but the line to the pan is not. I will pull the turbo like you said and replace the oil line as well. I do have a brand new Big 16g JDM turbo sitting on my desk, It will need some fab work on the inlet side its a 2 bolt (flange style). Also the pod bracket needs to be remade because when I spin the inlet of the turbo where it needs to be it looses its mounting holes because they end up in a diffrent spot. The motor runs really good and it has less than 90.000 on it. The turbo spools at a good rpm around 2300 or maybe a little less. I want to do what will work the best for my application. No one likes headaches and working on the ride more that having fun in it.

Not to sure what the oil separator is. It makes sence that it would smoke for a while then go away. It does smell like burnt oil as well. So i guess i will need to pull the turbo apart right?

What would be the best way to go at it? Is there a way to check these areas? I do not see any noticeable level changes in oil from the dip stick. It must be a pretty small leak.

Whats good oil pressure for a motor with around 89.000 miles on it? Mine is 55/60 cold around 30 psi at idle warmed up. 50/60 psi at around 3.000 Rpm when driving.

nothing really 2.5 turbo back Exaust thats pretty much it. Think it might be valve stem seals?

Not sure whats going on but, when I go out and start my engine in the morning and it idles for a bit. I will notice gray smoke coming out the tail pipe. Then after it warms up it goes away. I do notice it smells rich even after i get to work 5 Miles away but its not to bad. Im running without cats to if that helps. any ideas???
