  1. I had Phil, aka Phinko, Pretty much rebuild my engine bay and he did some spectacular work. I gave him a car that was in pretty ratty shape engine-wise and he gave me a car back that runs like a champ. He is incredibly knowledgeable and very, very patient. Since I am a poor little so and so, it took me nearly 3 months just to come up with the parts for the car, but he was very understanding and helpful. Even now after the car is done he is willing to help me out with any questions I have I have about 300 miles on the engine he built me and have had ZERO problems..To anybody needing some work done or advice, Phinko is the guy to go to! -Patrick

    Pistons

Well, I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have any cast or hyper-eu pistons, .020 over, sitting around they want to sell? I know where I can buy them new, just seeing if I could save a little money and help a board member out... -Patrick
  3. Glad to hear you made it through O-K...Is the engine stock? Mileage?
  4. I'd be in, depending on price...
  5. Anybody else have anything to say about the 1mm Os heads? I am considering buying one for my car but need a little more convincing that it is worth it. I have 1G MAS, 2.5" turbo-back ( no cat), hard IC pipes, and a freshly rebuilt bottom-end. I'm still TBI, would I need to upgrade my injectors to run a head with 1mm OS valves? Would I notice any power gains on the butt dyno?
  6. PMd you about the coil over kit...
  7. Well my head has some gaulling on the cam caps as well as some grooving on the cam journals itself. The head is a Marnal casting that is but 5k miles old and spending another $415+ when I just did a few months ago. Where did you get your head rebuilt?
  8. Indiana, Is that a SQ head in the pics you put up? If so, it looks as though you have actual cam bearings in there; how did you do that? My SQ just tore up my cam journals and I have some galling on the cam caps and head. I am still trying to get a verdict as to whether or not it is fixable r if I have to buy a new head ( the head in question is only 5K miles old...very frustrating)
  9. Shift, I am not sure exactly why the cam got torn up,but about 2 days before I discovered the problem my secondary injector got stuck open and flooded my engine with fuel. Unfortunately some of the fuel mixed in with the oil, and I beleive it somehow got into the cam journals and walla; oil deprevation. I am going to be pulling the engine out and FULYY inspecting the entire short block for any other signs of damage, and will most likely be getting a new oil pump to put and oiling issues at rest. On a side note, is there any difference between the turbo G54 oil pumps and the N/A ones? I will be getting the Scneider HD springs no matter what cam I go with...This may be a dumb question, but how would the adjustable cam gear help? This is going to be full time street car but I want it to be able to handel some "spirited" driving too...
  10. I thought you could get a 292 in hydraulic...I actually have the roller rockers on my car with a stock cam; I didn't put them on there I bought it like that ( I didn't know anything then...).It was when I was putting the non-roller rockers on when I discovered my cam journals were grooved up and my cam caps were a little smeared..How did you like the 292? Any noticable increase in power?
  11. VAFCs are for Hondas to control VTEC crossover points and fuel tuning, S-AFCs are for just about any other car. As for if they will work with a Quest, I haven't the slightest. S-AFCs don't control boost though...I beleive it's a Greddy Profec B that is the electronic boost controller...
  12. Well, it turns out I will most likely need a new head. Since I am going to be replacing the head, I figured this would be a good time to put in a performance cam since everything will be apart anyway. I already have some basic stuff; 1G MAS, hardpipes, ported TB elbow, 2.5" turbo-back, and the intake and exhaust manifolds will ported while they are off. I have a realistic goal of 250 WHP, and plan to do an MPI set-up about a year or year and a half down the road. I've been reading the various cam posts on this site, and am very much up in the air as to what to get. It seems like a 284 or a 292 are the only choices to gain power through a TBI setup, but is it worth it? Which would you recommend?
  13. Thanks for the response gentlemen. BTW, Scotty, how do you like the ride of the Monroes? One more thing Scotty, I sent you a couple PMs about those brake lines you were selling; did you get them? -Patrick
