NewCONQUESTowner
I am for sure one who would be interested... Is it the same hood as the one on the car in the picture?
Burton
Hmmmmm, apparently nobody likes clicking limks. I got lots of PM asking questions that are answered in the link provided. Anyway, the hoods can be made to look like the one on my car, or they can be made just how they are molded in the mold. I can make you the standard hood, or I can make you a custom one-off Cowl hood- just depends on what you want. From the link:... Some of you may remember the molds and hoods that Gary had made a few years back. There was a cowl style as well as an 83 style. The guy he had build them kind of retired, and the molds fell into disrepair. I have procured the molds, and assesed what needs to be done with them. The 83 hood mold's framework is pretty much crumbling so I am in the process of rebuilding that which will take some time. The cowl hood mold, however, is still in adequate shape, and really only needs a little resurfacing on the face of the mold. It is in good enough shape to lay parts, but the parts will require bodywork after laying to be perfect. I intend on resurfacing the mold in a few months, but I want to lay a few hoods as is and see exactly what people are interested in before I do that. For instance, most people don't like the rib down the middle, and some people think the cowl height is too much. If that is the case, then when I resurface the mold I will eliminate the rib permanantly and maybe make the cowl not as high. Anyway, I am currently taking orders to build hoods to suit. I can make them with the rib and everything just how they were built a few years ago. I can eliminate the rib if wanted for a smoother look. I can also mold in whatever type of vents or scoops you'd like in it, wheteher that means molding in some sort of aftermarket scoop, or creating our own one off scoop style when the hood is laid. I can keep the cowl height how it is, or make it a lower profile cowl. All the hoods come with hinge and hood latch mounting points. The first hoods made came with them as well, but the front latch mount plates were made of aluminum, and the screws could strip out easily. For my hoods I will be using all steel plates for mounting points. I also intend on improving on the frame structure of the hoods to provide a more quality part. All hoods will be fitted and trimmed on a full size jig to ensure proper fitment as well as nice straight edges. Prices start at $350 plus shipping for a "raw" hood. A raw hood will be fitted and trimmed, but have little bodywork done to it. Bodywork adds weight, so this might be an option for the racer types who are looking for ultimate weight savings but aren't as concerned as much about the looks. May also be an option if you do your own bodywork. A raw hood would not come with any custom scoops or such unless you pay extra. These can be done with or without the rib. For $425 plus shipping, I will make a hood that is trimmed and fitted, with all the bodywork done and the hood primed and ready to go. These can be done with or without the rib, but wouldn't include custom vents or scoops unless you pay more. Any "custom" hood requiring custom vents or scoops will be quoted individually. Hoods will be laid as they are ordered, and I will only lay one hood at a time. As much as I'd like to do a GP for them, I don't want to be tied down to 10 hour days of being covered in fiberglass dust for the next 2 months, so I will be making them one at a time. Hoods will be completed within 4-6 weeks of deposit payment, and that build time will be dependant on the amount of work each individual hood will take. Deposit will need to be roughly 2/3 of the price of the hood, as the majority of the cost of theses hoods is materials. PM me if interested. And pics.... 88txquest
Well give me a few weeks and I will get you a deposit I live in arlington so I'm not far from you. What does the finished hood with body work weigh?
Hotpocket
I'd like to get one if it can be bolt on with the stock latches! Let me know! What's the going price for one?
Burton
Well give me a few weeks and I will get you a deposit I live in arlington so I'm not far from you. What does the finished hood with body work weigh? I'm not 100% sure of the weight as I don't have acess to a scale to weigh the different parts (I need to buy a bathroom scale LOL). Anyway, I'd guess the fiberglass hoods are about 1/2-2/3 the weight of a stocker.
Burton
I'd like to get one if it can be bolt on with the stock latches! Let me know! What's the going price for one? Yep, all the new ones come with latch and hinge mounting points, as stated above. Going price depends on what you want. Raw ones start at $350, de-ribbed ones all smoothed out start out about $450. Custom one-offs will probably be $500+
