92 GSR-4
Yes you can use the A/C from the toyota..you have to customize the toyota fitting to new hose. Also if you are reading these threads then you need to quit messing with that 4 cyl. and get the 2JZ....sell the 4G64...or you will always feel like the guy who didn't get picked for the winning team. Man I blew away a WRX with his CF hood and energy drink in his cupholder I made him spill....It was like he was putting on the brakes....just this morning on the way to work.....When the 2JZ has straight 3" exhaust and the turbo is fully spooled it is a scarey sound..especially to the other driver. Damn you! I've been following/lurking around these threads for quite some time. I wanted to throw the 2J in an FC or FD RX-7, but I keep having this strange need to put it in the Quest. Must be these damn threads/videos you guys keep posting!
serpentkilla
Does it look the same? Mine doesn't have the 2nd section like the 2jz.Which 2nd section are you talking about? The pic is of the stock downpipe correct? So you just need the flange so u can tie in your exhaust.
BOHO
NVM...you are right. Yes
supturbo
I just made the flange but you can also buy one for $30. The hard part for me was making the custom downpipe to come over the motor mount and come far enough back to avoid the steering linkages. If you want the website I can look it up. serpentkilla
Took the car out to the track today for the first time with this set up. Could not get out of the hole properly to save my life. Best time was just a 12.5 highest trap was 122. Took some pics Vettekiller showed up as well as Ken. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-19_16-25-09_658.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-09-03_510.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-09-48_454.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-09-29_850.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-09-39_385.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-09-57_467.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-22-24_385.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-22-32_49.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_12-22-44_127.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/pgoombay/2011-03-20_13-05-37_812.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We8Tg97oT60 Edited March 20, 2011 by serpentkilla

AzStar
Noticed you didn't have a helmet on when you went to the water box. Here in AZ you have to have a helmet... heck someplace in the 13s. What is the requirement at your strip?

Another thing I may face here... depending on how "knowing" they are. Any power-adder car that isn't OEM requires a fire resistant safety jacket. I have one because they easily figured out my wife's S/C Miata isn't OEM. They never stopped me with my 03 S/C Mercury Marauder. I guess because the kit looks so factory they thought it came that way.

Couple of em... the green light was on so long... I would have thought the track guys would have come over and asked if you broke something? LOLQuit teasing the tow truck driver and get moving! For my Fairlane and Marauder I usually move my pedals (start going) when I see the 2nd yellow light go off.... They are larger cars so take a bit longer to react....but using my 2nd yellow off or 3rd yellow on I usually am .038 to 075 or so. Couple weeks ago I took my 2010 Challenger R/T and I was all over the charts with it. Much tougher trying to get consistent launch and manage the traction in that one. What type of tires are you running in back. I noticed you guys were forced to go through the waterbox. When I have my cars on street tires I drive around the waterbox. So where was your boast leak? serpentkilla
When I took the traction control butterfly out, I cut the rod flush with the inside of the throttlebody to seal the hole. Well the rod blew out and left the hole. Didn't put it back together yet but hopefully this solves my lag issue
Dave-O
If you have the means to, I'd suggest removing that TCS garbage completely. On a friend's 1JZ-swapped Nissan drift car: http://img806.imageshack.us/img806/3264/19314610150415791225581.jpg Works quite well so I'm told, and apparently the ECU hasn't freaked out at the lack of TCS yet. It was never hooked up, I cut it right after where the servo was. Drove it to work today but didn't really get a chance to really go threw the gears to see if its still laggy from 1st to 2nd. BOHO
Serp, What did you do for the lower radiator hose? Thanks
vettekiller593
I found a lower radiator hose that went around the lower frame perfect then we used the stock upper and put them together with a hose repair kit from advanced. I will look for the part number on the hose.
vettekiller593
I dont see it out there. I will call down there tomorrow and see what hose i used.
supturbo
I went with one of those universal hoses from autozone. It worked perfect for my swap. It has the coil in it to keep it from crushing when bending.
