csdisme
I think I getting a bit carried away with my CNC mill. I wanted to make an aluminum blockoff plate to replace the metal cover that goes between the intake for cylinders 1 and 2 on the head. So using the gasket as a pattern I made the CAD file and started the mill on its way. It got about halfway done and I realized that the plate looked kinda "plain", so I decided it needed a design. After a short time another CAD file was added to the first and the revised file went to the mill. The end result I think turned out pretty well, I included a pic below. After I sat admiring my work for a minute it occurred to me, no one will ever see it, it's going to end up being buried under the intake. :rofl3: Oh Well..... http://www.chaoticfrenzy.com/plate1.JPG (maybe I should put a design on the back while I'm at it :rolleye0018: )
strang3majik
You can't see yours? My mech fuel pump block off plate is pretty visible, and ugly. I do think you should make a bunch of these and sell them potentially...lol How big of a piece of metal can it cut?
Whiplash
20 years from now someone will tear down that engine and think they have a special OEM part not avail. to the public!
csdisme
I do think you should make a bunch of these and sell them potentially...lol Actually, if the interest was there, I wouldnt mind. The CAD part of it is the hard part, and that's done. I could change the design part to be whatever anyone wanted. (within reason) I can do simple line drawings and lettering. How big of a piece of metal can it cut? It's a benchtop machine that I converted to CNC. It's pretty limited in size. The largest piece I can do is about 4" x 10". I was just shy on it being able to handle the water pump plates, they are just a little too wide for the Y axis. So I have been sticking to making the small parts for my car. IntercooledFlatty
i'd rock one, do a combo GP with these and a egr block off plate
csdisme
OK then, what kind of design would you guys like on them? Just the Mitsu logo, or something else? Like I said, it can't be elaborate, a simple line drawing or lettering. We'll go with the most popular one. If someone wants something custom, I can do that also, but depending on how much time it takes to do the CAD portion it may cost a bit more, unless you can get me a DXF file that I can import. jszucs
Ever make those bolts? Or did you find something else to use?
IntercooledFlatty
keep the cost down and use what you have now, the lower the cost the more potential sales. just my 2.6 cents worth
csdisme
Ever make those bolts? Or did you find something else to use? I am in the process of converting the lathe to CNC also, it will be alot faster than trying to do them by hand. As for myself, I might be using some bronze bushing that I found and I was able to locate bolts that will work. The only machining would be the notch. If everything goes as I think it will, it could be a very cost effective alternative for everyone.
jszucs
^ only thing I can say about that is. Use something that will not carode in there like the stock ones. I though burning out the stock rubber one's was bad I can't imagin what it would be like with metal bushings.
ottrocket44
I think that is the same plate that 101propose makes. Not to be a buzz kill. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STARION-EGR...VehicleQ5fParts
DzNutz
I could send you a file of the "moparBishi" symbol of Tims and you could drop that on there. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/starquest-logocopy-1.gif

csdisme
thats the EGR valve block off plate. The one in this thread is the Mechanical fuel pump block off plate. There are a few folks that make the EGR plate, I hadn't seen any of the mechanical fuel pump plates yet. But this is definitely for the mech fuel pump plate. It's basically just a couple of arcs and a rectangle.
csdisme
Here is the drawing of the moparbishi symbol. I have a feeling that the two logos might run together without color separating them. http://www.chaoticfrenzy.com/fuel%20plate%20moparbishi.jpg Thoughts? I think I may just go with the Mitsu symbol for now and make some sets up.
DzNutz
Its a block off plate... it could easily be painted. I'm trying to find my drawing of it. It is a cad file but I cant find it. I'm still looking though. If nothing else I'll take a photo of one of my drawings.
