Hey Convette,

What brake setup are you using? My buddy designs brake components for road race cars. He supplies all the top dogs in the racing industry worldwide. I can see if he has the design for your brake setup already where you wouldn't have to pay to have them designed if you were interested. The best pads in the world really. Super stopping with virtually no brake fade.

I'm trying to use sn95 brakes from a cobra. I'd love to see what those guys can offer. I havent really had much time to spend with the car latley. I got it all painted up finally and did a 1800 mile road trip with it. Getting ready for this weekend.. Rd1 MCM Drift competition on Sat. Really excited to go tear it up. New track though I've never driven on it, but I'm going to puch hard and hopefully take home another win. I got 6 sets of tires to melt, hopefully that'll be enough. lol Only thing left to do is goive the car a once over and change the oil. I've been driving it everyday since I painted it and its been great.

That is a beautiful build Convette! I am ever more inspired to keep mine going.

Thanks man.

you figure anything out about your rim ?

Yeah I got it fixed. $70 to get it round and weld it up. Not too bad.

Placed 3rd this weekend in the drift comp.

Hey man, sorry. I used 2 3" sections. I did flatten it out a bit where it goes under the tt support. I might be going down to 1 though to make it a little quieter.

Why use a 240 rack and not a mustang 2 rack or some kinda manual rack. Im just curious because im going to be doing a ls1 swap and running a different rack but i havent decided which rack.

Have you thought about running mustang spindles. I was thinking about it on mine. It would allow you a lot more brake options. Im not for sure if the wheel pattern is the same.

Yes. If you read back somewhere along here I tried. The geometry is all wrong. Height wise it doesn't really work. Not a big deal, its not really a great option. A 240 setup or a rx7 (fd) would be a good setup since I have a front steer system, and the rx stuff is much lighter. Just an update, d2s are on the way should be here by Monday. Exhaust work is ready to be bolted installed. Just need a few brackets and its ready to roll. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/20121128_144855.jpg I was going to powder coat them black, but its so shiny and looks kinda cool. Also rebuilding my wheels, time for a color change, going all black with them this time.

Love the build thread, finally took the time to go through the whole thing. This summer I want to swap out the g54b and LS1 looks mighty attractive, although I dont plan to do such an extensive build such as yourself. Would you recommend the ls1 to be swapped into a semi-stock starion? Id like to avoid as much custom fab as possible and just beef up the rest of the car to handle the power(Id be fine with stock ls1 power at first). I would consider other truck engines aswell to cut cost but Id like to avoid iron blocks to keep the weight distro. Edited by tankbob

Thanks man. Yes a few guys have done the swap, it can be done with a lot less work. Weight distribution can be about the same as a stock car. Other than the drive shaft the car will handle the power just fine. You can find a L33 aluminum 5.3 block for very cheap. The t56 will be the most expensive part. All said and done you can do it for well under 5k.
