Road race/drift LS1 swap

well, I'm really leaning towards a painless race car harness. Its easy but costly. Since I'm not using any of the origional stuff, I just want to keep it simple. The enigine is going to be run by a cleaned up 02 camaro harness and PCM, I just got to get everything connected... I'm not looking forward to it at all. Wirings just not my thing.

 

Might I suggest the eBay "hot rod" harnesses and fuse box setups - I've got a couple friends running them in Nissans [drift cars and a time-attack car], and there are no complaints. The wire used is even pretty good quality. I'm looking into one of those setups for my build.

 

This car is amazing John.

 

I also would never have thought about running the exhaust tucked by the trans/driveshaft/torque-tube - I was really sweating trying to figure out how to run dual 3" pipes and SLP LM1 "mufflers", ha.

Dave-O I'm going to look into that. The painless one is over $500, not really feeling that right now... That and I told the wife I only need "a few little things" to finish in...lol

 

I got more paint and got it covered up last night. Going to clear it tonight. I didn't get any pics of the inside, but heres a few more.. I'm really starting to love the color. I got the rad mounted, obviously its almost too mig to fit in the car. So I had to notch the caster link supports so i could drop it down some and cut out some support material in the hood. Hopefully I'll have enough room to put a cap on it.

haha she runs great.. I got the paint done and started putting her back together last night! Its been so long I almost forgot how stuff goes. I got the tails in, hatch latches etc all the molding and trim. I weighed the hatch last night, and its really not as bad as I thought, she weighed in at 55lbs. I'm going to build a poly carb one aftet nats, and hopefully cut 20lbs out of that. I also weighed 25lbs of bolts that I've taken out of the car. Thats a quite a bit for a bunch of nutz. I read in GRM this month that every 100lbs of lost weight is the equivalent to 7 hp. Not to mention the gains in handling and braking. I didn't get a chance to upload pics, but its a f-ing beautiful thing.

Make me proud johnny boy. I knocked 2 big things of my to do/to fix list. Let me know if you need a hand on sunday. I should be available all day (after I defeat my hangover). I also got a 4x6 piece of 1/4 or 1/8th in plexiglass.

regardless ya its pricey stuff lol to pricey for me but in some cases gotta do what ya gotta do...

 

btw where did u get ur wheels junk?

 

jc cuz if i can sell my car i wanna sell my wheels and pick up a new pair and go insanely wide like urs maybe add some flares

yeah, wiring can be a pain. The mating of my 85 chassis harness to the 89 engine harness through the b-37 connector isn't fun. deleteing 6 wires, modding/re-routing 2, lol

 

oh, and that's after about 5-6 hours of staring at the 2 different wiring diagrams

 

BTW, looking awesome John. I especially like the color, haha

lol yeah weird. Not trying to jack, I wanted to go with a darker color, but got turned more towards the grey for heat reasons. Yeah I'm working on the interior wiring, its coming along slowly. Heres a few pics from the other day, its finally coming together.

it looks too clean and new to put any interior in. just put 1 seat and a steering wheel and go. forget wires

 

though having a heater is nice.

and cruise control, so i can has sleep on teh way to vegas. -_-

yeah I don't think heat is going to be an issue.. And I don't want anyone else driving on the way to vegas...lol I got the wiring service manu so once I figure out how to read it, I'll be good to go. I got some more parts coming in this week and next... its getting there. shis confusing tho.

i wonders how many V-8 cars going to be in vegas?

god i wish my car was show quality like your whip.

 

and i have never had a car with a good paint job, you sir may represent all the V-8 RO4's!

they can take pics of your car, then just swap engine bay shots for the other red cars :)

 

i think i found dents when i buffed the car out, it was more cherry dirty lol!

it's all good i still am happy with it.

 

now i gotta do something with my figi! LQ4...Turbo...ford 8.8...all stock.

ahh...lol I had the family in town this weekend so I got nothing done. I got a bunch of painting little stuff done, all front suspension pieces, headlight covers and the cowl done. I f-ed up on the cowl, something reacted and it messed up the paint a little. most of it came out perfect, but f- it I'm not doing it again. Ordering more parts tomorrow the engines going in this weekend for good. I'm just going to order a universal wiring kit from jeggs and call it a day. Headers are going to the coaters tomorrow. Stupid photobucket is down so I cna't up load pics.
