D_Venable
Just built an adjustable manual boost controller today. for about $5.00 with parts from my local ACE Hardware Store. Hillman Fasteners part number   AB100A-B  1/4" 90 degree elbow $1.79   56166-B   brass nipples        $1.25 each (2 needed)   58120-d   5/16" ball bearing         $0.27   #6 spring                    $0.40 now cut to 3/4-2/3 original length   5/16"-18 Allen head bolt 1 5/16" total length   5/16"-18 Nut   Small flat washer (unsure of size, was just laying around)I have now drilled a small hole on the hex section of the outlet nipple of it A little modding has to be done to the 90 degree elbow and the bolt, drill a hole centered with one open end and tap with a 5/16"-18 tap as shown into the end of the elbow:http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/AdjustableMBC1.jpgThen mill or grind (as I did) the end of the bolt down to a smaller diameter so the washer will slide on.  I chose to use a washer to keep the spring from binding. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/AdjustableMBC4.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/AdjustableMBC2.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/AdjustableMBC3.jpg Haven't tested yet, but will hopefully have positive pressure results tomorrow. Have Fun Derek EDIT: I have reposted the pics so they now workedits in red are new as of August 3, 2005
D_Venable
UPDATE, got it dialed in to where it puts out a steady 13 psi with no spike on stock gauge (need to get aftermarket one though, anyone want to donate?! ;D). Man it has a lot more power now ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Derek

Guest c89zx7r
that cost more than my electric 2 stage boost controller . but that is a good idea . you could use it with my controller . i have the 88-89 boost control solenoid or any 3 port electric solenoid will work . put it between your wastegate and your ovcp line hook a toggle switch to it and then hook it up to ur battery . and there you go . toggle switch off 8 psi toggle switch on full boost . or you can take the mbc from his idea and connect it to my ebc idea so you can adjust the higher boost levels
barbercb
c89zx7r, I was wondering if you could tell me how your hoses run. I'd like to have one setting for daily and the other using a mbc. Great idea! I tried it last night but it acted like I had the waste gate disconnected boost was going up to like 20psi..... Technology
I would guess that if yours looked like Mr. Venable's, you would hook the hose from the ovcp to the side with the ball bearing, because boost will push it open and keep it "floating". I have heard that the most accurate way to control the boost is with something like this, plus an air bleeder screw (I'd put that after the ball bearing and spring).
