I was wondering if that seal is replaceable and if it is what do I need to do it, the steering is fine other than leaking fluid. Thanks in advance. ad8tsi Posted January 26, 2009 Report Share Posted January 26, 2009 prof quest has a great illustrated write up on the other starquest website. it does take some special tools and it gets pretty involved. there is more than just a single exterior seal causing your problem. the entire shaft with gearing must be removed to access all the replacable parts. he will send you a rebuild unit for $275. thats the route I took. Technology Posted January 26, 2009 Report Share Posted January 26, 2009 I'd look for someone parting their car out and have them ship one to you, then make sure that one has new seals, and just swap it in. psu_Crash Posted January 26, 2009 Report Share Posted January 26, 2009 I might add that it is a real PITA to get that pitman arm off the steering box. I shattered 2 pullers getting mine off.
