Hi guys , as I posted on austarion.com

Here maybe you can help me more, because I have widebody.

Guys, I have a rust problem :( My car had a paintjob 2 years ago, and this year rust come :(

Picture tells 1000 words, so I marked where little annoying rust bubles come:

I saw that this lower part of wide-body is closed, and maybe there is water that is gather there and little by little "eating" my car with rust.

I know that here isnt so much widebodyes, but maybe you can help me how to stop this rust? Tinman can help? But what is final solution? little wholes so water can go away?

Thank you all! :)

That panel under the door - the side skirt - is replaceable off of another widebody. I have a new one in a bag.

Can you take a closer side picture of the area you circled? If the rust isn't too bad you can sand it down, have a rust treatment coat put on and repainted.

Thank you for reply, well it isnt so bad, but i think that there is problem there, water is comming from somwhere and it stay there generating rust.

I will go to my mechanic, if it can not be saved, I will contact you for a new ones :)

But, my question stays, is this common problem on widebody?

Well, if you live near the ocean, salt in the air will cause rust to happen as well. You said the car was repainted so maybe it was not prepared properly. As for it being a common problem, not so much, but it is easily fixable. I'm curious to see how water gets to there.

2Mech: My Starion is originally from Belgium. I think that there didnt sold in Croatia. In my Starion name, thank you :) I am taking good care of him :).

2Fanta: I live in Zagreb (capital city of Croatia), 400km from sea, so thats not a problem. Maybe cold winters, I dont know. But I think that there is an issue, because I have feeling that panel under door is "closed", and from wheel ther goes water in that , should I say "tunel" and there water stays. I will know a little more after I visit my mechanic.

But does Starions have problems with body? Does they rust a lot?

Thank you all! :)

I live in greece. I moved here from the U.S.A 3 months ago. Like in your country, starions were not sold here. So i have to find one in another country like you.

How did you find the starion in Belgium?

I lived in california most of my life. and there is little to no rust on cars there. So i dont know the specific rust areas on starions. But i do think that that spot of rust you have on your car, is a usual spot for rust.

The best person to talk to would be Burton. Hes a starion owner, professional body shop guy, and he knows where these cars tend to rust. He did a write up on another site. heres the link, but you have to be a member there to see it. but i think its worth it to join up. the more info you have the better.

Yes. And usually the rust goes much deeper than it appears on the outside. This because they rust from the inside out. (see Burtons car)
