For Sale:

This is a beautifully gutted and restored 88' Mitsubishi Starion aka Chrysler/dodge conquest that needs a good home. It is VERY lightweight. It has been backhalved, tubbed, with rollcage and bracketed for a small block. Previous owner raced the car. tub and race rear has since been removed for use in another race car as well as blown 360 and trans have been removed. There is a temporary solid rear inplace. We suggest install of fresh carb'd small block of your choice(any chevy/ford/mopar smALLBLOCK v8 will fit easily....and a big block can be done if you are good at fabbing headers) and race rear and go racing! wiring is quite easy using factory harness. lites and everything still work....tasteful v8conversion needs a couple of weekends of your work before tire smokation begins again!

call 518 365-0387 for the whole story and more pics...$900 obo

Mopar Tsi -- if your mechanically inclined and you like slicks, g-forces, and wheelstands, then this car's for you...especially if your into mopar muscle.

vin # JA3CC54N1JZ034368, clean title, 3/88 build date, Mitsu Starion. Pics below. Condition is very good to excellent---needs some minor fabrication/installation to finish. Located in Cambridge, NY 12816. Shipping is up to buyer, but can be done by seller for an additional fee. Contact number is Matt at 518 365-0387.

Mopar Green paint w/ custom tribal graphics, dodge 360 V8, auto tranny, hurst slapshift, solid rear axle, tubbed, rollcage

Suggest review of and adherence to NHRA safety guidelines during the finishing stages of this car--- its gonna be silly fast

the odo reads 152k, but the restore was recent..."POR 15" preservative paint in engine bay and underneath...this is a virtually rust free car....the pictures do not do it justice...with some finishing work this car will look great and will be worth a ton...the engine and tranny have low miles...engine needs rebuilt...and has been pulled w/ tranny and placed next to car..engine/trans available at extra fee

the car is gutted for serious weight reduction...and is 90% finished!! A few weekends of work and it'll be ready...

The reason for selling is: the previous owner came across a stealth which he'd always wanted....so he now has a rear drive stealth/tubbed/caged/w/solid race rear...and his best motor went into the stealth...he was gonna finish both projects butit got too costly...so the race rear, the tub, and the better motor went to the stealth from the Mopar Tsi. And we, the current owners, are 2.6mitsu purists who know little about mopar muscle...so it will be better cared for by you Mopar folks.

The engine mount bracketry can be drilled for the 318, 340, and 440(previous owner's uncle races a conquest w/ a 440...yes, it will fit. Same uncle fabbed most of this car and may be a resource to help finishing touches on the Mopar Tsi), The race wheels were mocked up cuz the rear rollers look funny. The temporary solid rear is tack welded in for transport purposes...suggest pro install of race rear and d/s for safety. The proper running gear was left in place allowing the purchaser to either keep the current auto tranny set up, go powerglide 2 spd or even go back to 5spd and original mitsu rear(with some work).

The car comes with some extras including a converter.

The car is in a tight spot so its tuff to photograph.

OK WILL ADD DETAILS and pics in 10 minutes

Matt

The back half has some nice metal work.... and please note its only been out in the elements / grass for a little while... so lets get this thing sold soon ...so we can get it running again and then see some nasty vid

It seems ideal for someone with easy access to a tub, a narrow coil over race rear, and maybe even already has a good running mopar V8

We'd really rather not put it on ebay.

ok...we got some questions on the wheels

I guess mocking up a set of draglites next to the rear wheels was a dumb idea. Just to clear things up...this roller has old nasty wheels on the rear... and the pics with the draglites in the rear are just setting up against the old wheels....making it look like they stick way out....but they are not even connected. Sorry for the confusion.

how much for rear wheels?

Those r not for sale. We use on a diff vehicle. We've used slicks like that on the conquest, but actually like a good set of drag radials better---I suggest stock quest rear rims w/ 255/50/16 dr's. The slicks are a very wobbly combo with the stock conquest susppension....not good.

Hey,

If any of you guys are connected on the mopar websites ...would you please paste a link to this thread there??...Let me know if you have connections and what you can do please... Those guys will probably really like this lightweight car along with the color.

We'd like to sell this beast b4 the end of summer.

thanks!

Looks like a super deal @ this price- plus the radiator is not sticking out of the header panel like on that other chop job in the for sale by others section.

Not to argue (I look at things in black & white for the most part, but this gets taken the wrong way sometimes, apologies if this is the case here), but look at the first line of the ad:

This is a beautifully gutted and restored 88' Mitsubishi Starion aka Chrysler/dodge conquest that needs a good home. It is VERY lightweight. It has been backhalved, tubbed, with rollcage and bracketed for a small block.

Any idea what it costs to do something like this? A roll cage alone installed would probably be more than the asking price if you could find one (a quick Google search now showed one somewhere in Europe for 400 euros, none FS in the US) & then get someone to install it. I know firsthand how much work is involved getting/making brackets to put a V8 into a small Japanese car. There are no bolt-in kits for these like there are for the RX7 and Z-Car.

This car is not a "typical" Starquest w/o a drivetrain (I'd agree with you on the price if that was the case), when you start planning/doing stuff like this, the $$$ adds up fast. You can always save a bunch of money by finding a car like this where some/most of the work was done.
