boostintsi
So im getting very close to being prepped for paint, trying to choose a color. Originally, my car was RO4, mexican red. My question is, does anyone think my car will be less valuable if painted an aftermarket color? Just curious. I have a lot of metal work(patch panels, etc), a shaved gas tank lock, shaved antena hole and side spoiler piece, skimmed and blocked EVERYWHERE. This car is very straight. Door jams, and rockers are shaved smooth as well. My car is not very stock anymore. whole engine compartment is painted flat black. I would think in a 100 percent stock resto, original color would matter, but since my car is modded everywhere, i dont think it matters as much. Color im thinking of going with is a Dupont, Hot Hues, color called Harvest Blaze. Will be sprayed professionally, 3 base, 3 clear. what do you guys think? GrooveHolmes
Go with whatever color you like the best. There are so many RO4 reds out there as it is. I don't think changing color from original will have a negative effect on value.
boostintsi
Yea thats what Im thinkin, just curious though. I think it migh even be worth more with custom paint on it, its not like im going with cheap paint.
Chad
How well it's done is 95% of the value. If you choose a clolor that is odd or a "fad" color, it may be worth more to some and less to others.
MikeMeyerhoff
SQ enthusiest dislike red because its the common color. Most people probably just see a stereotypical red sports car. So outside of enthusiests, being red probably doesn't hurt value at all. I'm with Chad, if you pick a popular trendy color it will probably help the value more than anything. mm
Alcyone
the value only matters if you plan to sell it.. which is why mine will most likely not get painted mexican red.
Ernie88TSi
How well it's done is 95% of the value. Exactly, if you don't do it right, and have bits of red poking out when you open the hatch, or something like that, it'll kill your value more than anything.
