4g63ESI-r
after going through 3 12A's in a month i decided i had to do something different. so i threw a t3/t4 on it. so far its working great. right now it's dialed in with boost. the wideband reads 12:1 @ 16psi and leans out after that. i'll post some pics in a few days. and once i get the 6al and safc wired up i hope to put up some dyno numbers and 1/4 times. mods:1g mafblaster 2boost controllercustom t3/t4 manifold and d/pregular a** ebay t3/t4 mods in next few days:walbro pump2 secondary injectorssafc6al
QuietQuest
You could get a GM mass air sensor and the maftranslator thing that DSM guys use. You can tune with that (not as much as the safc though).
4g63ESI-r
i like the safc. it's working well. i got it all broke in and am going to the track sunday. i've got it dialed in nice and fat with a 11.6:1 afr @ 25psi and 15 deg timing. she ate up a 5.7 GTO last night so i'm hoping for good things
jinx
what killed three 12As... trying to run 20+ psi ?Exactly which ebay t3/t4 you're using and what rpm does it hit 25psi ?car should be a blast
Alcyone
mods don't include an upgraded block??
QuietQuest
You don't need to upgrade the block, but maybe the pistons and rods. But as long as you run it rich with the tbi, it'll be fine. if it were MPI i'd suggest leaning it out.
4g63ESI-r
well i got back from the track. went a 14.0 @ 101 with a 2.3 60 ft. i can't get this thing out of the hole to save my life. no mods on the block. what i have listed is what i've done. 3 12a's died at the hands of 14 psi. i obviously have some more tuning to do for the 1/4 to get this girl off the line. but this thing is balls fast up top. i took down the 5.7 GTO from a 60mph roll it had a cam, intake, headers/exhaust maybe a 2 step will help me with spool off the line
QuietQuest
Don't worry about a 2 step, just let the air out of your tires. I did that and went from 35+ to 20 an the wheel hop basically disappeared. I think 15 psi would even be better.
4g63ESI-r
yesterday on my way home my secondary stuck...never seen that happen before  . it was wide open too. the car would fall all over itself til like 10psi when it would get close to enough air. i put the wideband on it and was getting like 9.6:1 at idle. seems like if it's not one part failing its another

QuietQuest
really? are they multi-layer steel? No, but they are great anyway. You can get MLS for the g54b though. Search around, I can't remember any web sites for it.
4g63ESI-r
i just can't see 25psi on a stock gasket for very long, ya know. i was leaning towards the ajusa gasket or the guy that midwest turbo offers.

DSM RSM 89conquest
I just ordered the gear for a T3/T4 conversion. Nice to see some one else is already having luck with a similar setup. It is also good to know the stock engine is that strong. Nice machine. I am curious to know how many miles your engine has as well as what kind of compression readings you are getting from each cylinder.
4g63ESI-r
well compression is a little slack cause the bottom end needs freshened up. there's like 135k or so on the motor. but that's to be expected on something with that mileage.
