Cloud81918
I just got into Starquests, but here is my other car. It serves as my DD and my autocross car. Lot of goodies on it for a sar that looks fairly stock. It is pretty fast and I doubt my Conquest will ever be to the point that it would match the times that my Saturn puts out. http://www.rgrscca.org/gallery/2007-3-10.2/images/4.jpeghttp://www.rgrscca.org/gallery/2007-7-28.1/images/89.jpeg*That cone stayed uphttp://www.rgrscca.org/gallery/2007-4-14.1/images/6.jpeg
eck_007
not gonna put down the times that the sat does???? have you researched the starquest cars at all? these cars are sweet track cars....check into them a bit. i think you will be verry impressed
Cloud81918
Autocross and Roadcourse are 2 different beasts. I'd choose the 'Quest hands down on a roadcourse. But My Saturn is an autocrossing machine.
burtons_wife
It is pretty fast and I doubt my Conquest will ever be to the point that it would match the times that my Saturn puts out. What modifications have you done to the Saturn?
Cloud81918
It has gone though quite and evolution and is a pretty potent package as it sits. As I said the car looks fairly stock. But I was running a Fidanza 8.5 pound flywheel (stock is 24, if I remember right) a ACT HD pressure plate (modified Sentra unit) and a ACT 6-puck unsprung. Power wise it is lame. It only puts about 135HP at the crank. Saturn engines just don't reach high HP numbers. At about 5K feet I'm in the low 80hp range when it comes to what meets the ground. But the car will sustain very high lateral G loads, tranistions fast and produces a metric pants load on throttle off oversteer. Small courses are embarrassing for a lot of more "substantial" machines and my car more then holds its own on longer courses too. Road courses kick its butt though. I don't have enough power to hang with anything in the straights and the econo style gearing doesn't help. My Conquest will probably help me enter the road course world. TexasQuest
Cool whip man. Don't see too many modded Saty's around. I know what you mean by no horsepower but great in auto x. I have a daily driver 97 Mercury Tracer that has a completely reworked suspension and little motor mods. It's an awesome reliable daily driver and a beast on the road course. Keep up the good work dude!
AndyW
Hmm, I dont even know if I want to get into it with you about that comment. lol The conquest not holding its own in the SCCA is definitly something to laugh at. At 20 years of age my car is still in the top 10 at every event. The built econoboxes can be very nimble in the corners I'll give you that but a properly setup Conquest can stand tall in the corners and come out of them on fire as well. Just wait you will see. Cloud81918
If you've been autocrossing for some time you already know it is driver more than car. I don't doubt the Conquest's abilities, but I do know that I don't need 2 Autocross cars right now. Because of that, my Saturn (which is already setup for the sport) will stay the cone dodger of choice. I will drive the TSI in anger, but I wil keep my competitive racing with the STS Saturn. Because of that the Conquest will be modified and setup as a Friday/open track day toy.
AndyW
Yep I'll agree with you on that one. the green car in my sig is trailer to all events. Your going to have some fun with this car I guarantee it. I'v seen some odd cars be silly fast with great drivers I agree with you on that. Cloud81918
Haven't updated this forum about the Saturn. I picked up a sponser this year. They approched me with a suspension under devlopement. Basicly I test and fit it and they let me have it. Turned out to be a great deal for me. This isthe post I made for anouther forum, figured some here may e interested. I'm currently in talks with the company to see about a product rollout for Starquests. http://dragonflyempire.com/randompics/coilovers/2007-11-25--16.52.02/00006.jpghttp://dragonflyempire.com/randompics/coilovers/2007-11-25--16.52.02/00011.jpghttp://dragonflyempire.com/randompics/coilovers/2007-11-25--16.52.02/00010.jpghttp://dragonflyempire.com/randompics/coilovers/2007-11-25--16.52.02/00019.jpghttp://dragonflyempire.com/randompics/coilovers/2007-11-25--16.52.02/00026.jpg Put the coilovers on Sunday. A friend came over and lent a hand. The transformation was pretty apparent after a quick around the block test. Without rubber mounts the ride is quite a bit more direct. Even at the softest damping rate it is much more damping then I had before. The spring rates are higher than my old setup too. I still need to mess with the ride height as it is a little tall. I also need to get the thing aligned. Currently I' mrunning 8K in the front and 6K in the rear. I will be swapping to 8K all around before I get it aligned. My car will be the fastest it has even been for sure. The company has released the price of the coilover set, $1395. With this being the 4th suspension under the car and most certainly the best I wish this suspension was out when I first started. I've spent that much on springs and struts over the last 4 years. At the price they are asking I think this company has a great product on their hands. Their closest competitor is at least $150 more. shift1313
you have a good bit of work into that car. there was a guy around here that ran an SL in the scca stuff but he had a turbo on his, took care of the no hp problem for him:)
