substock
still need to finish it up by angling the spots for the gauges in, and make sure it all fits in well with some mounting tabs. http://www.northeastsyty.com/albums/album84/DSC01571.sized.jpghttp://www.northeastsyty.com/albums/album84/DSC01572.sized.jpg
heefner
looks good. What did you use to bend the plexi?
substock
looks good. What did you use to bend the plexi? i have a butain(however its spelled) mini torch soldering iron that i used. heated the plexi up as much as i could and bent it on a sharp 90* edge. got the angles done tonight. doesn't look pretty at them moment, but i cut the gauge locations out, and glued them on the inside with some household concrete. tomorrow when it dries i'm planning on taking my dremel and sanding it all done to get rid of the sharp edges and get rid of the excess glue. http://www.northeastsyty.com/albums/album84/DSC01573.sized.jpghttp://www.northeastsyty.com/albums/album84/DSC01574.sized.jpghttp://www.northeastsyty.com/albums/album84/DSC01575.sized.jpg after doing this it might have been easier to cut out the gauge spots by themselves, and then do the outer casing so all the edges meet correctly. this is the first time i've attempted doing this, so i can't complain at the moment
zack_century
looking good. i'm sure it will turn out fine.I'm working on making a pod for my 2-5/8" boost gauge, that will lay in the corner between the dash and the right light control buttons.sprayable foam, shaped roughlypainted, so bondo won't eat through the foambondo, to shape and provide a base for the gauge to sit in..who knows how THIS one will turn out though. substock
the one in the pics above was too tall to sit in the spot. so i made myself some templates out of cardboard so all the angles will be the same. i'll hopefully start on it tomorrow
AndyW
I'm going to have to do something like this soon because i absolutley hate my pillar mount guages. They are in the way so much when I'm autoxing its rediculous lol. Plus If I put a 3 guage holder here it will give me a reason to get my fuel pressure and oil pressure guages
