nugget43
So ive decieded to start a project log. hopefully this will help me stay motivated. I have a red 87 quest that i bought a few years ago from Lance_S. i got it in late october of 2013 and did'nt end up driving it much due to winter. When i got it it had a 20g with 20,00 on a rebuilt motor which has ported head, ACT clutch, big injectors, 89 ecu, walbro 255 and practically all the mataince stuff done i.e. berring bushings ECT. the car its self is sitting at 115,xxx mi and is RUST FREE... WINTER 2013Well during that winter we ended up having a really nice day with no snow and i brought it to a buddys garage to install a safc i had laying around to help control fuel. got it installed and it started then i shut if off and it would not start... trouble shooted it and i wasnt geting fuel due to injectors not fireing (i think). well we gave up anfter getting really frustrated so i brought it back home and it sat the rest of the winter. SPRING 2014Come spring i decided to go MPI. My buddy and i had prevously built his 1993 sundace 3.0 that we turbo'd and built an MS harness for. He is pretty darn good with tuning MS and i liked it so i decided it would be my best option.I orderd a bunch of parts-D2 coilovers-GT30 or GT35 (not really positive which one it is)-Header with a HKS WG the recurculated into a 3in DP with full 3in to a borla muffler-CX Racing FMIC-MS2-MPI intake-Delphi 1000cc injectorsI am probably forgetting some things but thats most of it.Well i pulled the motor and pretty much every thing out of the engine bay and sand blasted it.Brought it to some guy to have him paint the bay with this stuff called Chassi Saver. this ended up being a bad decsion he did a terrible job and to make things worse the flat bed that picked it up crank the damn car down to much and the rear tire hit the inner fender and made a small crease.... I got it back home and got back at it fab'd up the D2's and put those on. i really enjoyed this part i really like fabrication...Next i was going over the motor and realized the pressure plate was missing bolts... after taking it off i realized they were snaped off in the flywheel....So i made a very dumb decision after this and put the motor back in like that. I was low on funds and really wanted to get it back on the road.Got the header, turbo, and exaust in along with the FMIC.I was not happy with the intake i bought so i decided to build my own. a family friend owns a machine shop and was very selfless and built me my intake flange that my step dad and I drew in CAD FOR FREE!!! i ordered some aluminum for the rest of it.my buddy and i started building my engine harness. and i built my VR crank pully. At some point i completly lost my motivation. i think part of it was i bought a 04 WRX and really liked it. So the car sat just like that for about a year.in this time i started building an sand rail from scratch... Fail btw i realized after i got the frame built i was not gonna have room for it. FALL 2015YAY! I am starting to work on it again. I had a toolroom guy at work mill out my fuel rail for me. i started welding up my plenum. Now dont hate on my welds i am a pretty darn good welder however i am MIG welding this and have never MIG'd aluminum. they arnt the best but will hold. i am hopeing to have a TIG by the time i do the rest of it..Also Ive Decided to go E85 its just the safest rout with these motors and the sell it a mile from my house... I do have some old and some new parts im going to post up for sale soon. HELP FUND THIS THING!! LOL Here are some photos ill get more soon.
