The Rabbit1
so when I turn the ignition on my pump isn't priming, but when I crank the engine the pump starts and car starts quickly, any ideas?
ucw458
ECU doesn't turn on the pump till it sees an ignition pulse. It doesn't do a prime pulse when the key is turned. Your pump is working as it should. Edited September 15, 2013 by ucw458
Shelby
the ecu will do the 1-2 sec run of the fuel pump IF you only bump the starter , and not hold it in the run position , while it is true the ecu runs the fuel pump as long as the starter is runing ,,it will alsorun the 1-2 sec prime run most other cars do if you just bump the starter ,, doing this is a good way to tell if a slow starting ening is doing this bacause of no fuel system static pressure , such as a leaking check valve can cause ,,if you pre run the pump 3-4 times and the engine now starts like it should with out extended cranking you have found the problem
