Sorry stuff has been hectic, decided to go back to school, moving, and a job change. Excuses excuses... but I do have the front end all sectioned on and just put the engine and trans in the other night for a test fit and to clean up wireing. Gotta wait on my first paycheck from the new job to get my radiator, some power steering hoses, gauges etc, and I've also acquired a ps rack from a 240 to swap out. Ill post some pics at the end of the week as my computer is in a box....somewhere

Ill take a pic of the clearance of the pan to the ground as it sits now, but has anyone had an issue with bottoming out on the oilpan? i think im going to make a skid plate. I had a picture of the panels all on it, but somehow my phone has deleted them? idk ill be back out at my parents this weekend to do some work on it, i may make a build thread in the restoration center since ill be doing more than an engine swap i guess....

I havent updated this in awhile, most of the following is copied from a local forum that i frequent.

How it sat before snow

I moved the car from my parents to a friends shop about 30 mins from my apt now so i can actually work on it. I had to dig it out of a snowbank first though...

my buddy resting. It would've taken me 3 hours had he not helped out.

My engine is in there....

After a weekend in the shop it was still filled with snow...

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140301_141455.jpg

The plan is to get this thing driving in time for events this year, drive and have fun. I hope to get it at least in primer, if not painted. Keeping it NA for now, and see how it goes.

-Test fit of the s-chassis rack on my cradle under the 2j.

(tie rods are just not tight here)

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_010250.jpg

The mounting bolts on the s13 cradle go up from the bottom, but i didnt want to cut holes through the bottom, so i cut the nuts off the top of the c-clamp and welded them to the inside. Easily access-able around my motor. And I dont think those mounts are gonna move or break. I managed to give myself a nice tan line on my neck while welding haha.

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_010305.jpg

Decided to test fit the new cradle.

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_175107.jpg

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_174941.jpg

Angle with old steering setup and car off the ground.

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_191713.jpg

Angle with new s13 rack, the toe is still very much negative but the tie rods are maxed out, Ill trim them up later. But the angle seems pretty similar, even with the toe, so Im pretty happy.

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_170621.jpg

Now i have to fab up a connection from my column to the cradle, first try with some donor parts worked, but had a slight bind i could feel in the steering wheel. After looking at it, it seems like the angle is too tight for my u-joint steering shaft to make the corner. So for the second try Im going to try to use a double U joint, the info i find on them says theyre good for as small as a 38deg angle, so we'll see whats up. Any of you guys that have done this-your input would be greatly appreciated..(i know this is the engine build section though)

Transmission mounting, I decided to use the supra crossmember that came with my w58. I used angle iron and a pedestal jack to hold it in place, tacked it up, took everything back out (including carpet) and welded it up. i did shorten the overhangs and welded some gussets there, but forgot to take a pic

Now, the engine is on the stand getting cleaned up. New gaskets and such. Starter, new water pump, timing belt, Hardened flywheel bolts, new Gauges, a radiator, and power steering fittings are all on the way....

Speaking of radiator, do any of you JZ guys have pics of how you mounted the radiator? I have a mk3 supra radiator, but it hangs WAY low and the outlet hits my tension rod bracket... I ordered a shorter rad to clear it, but I am curious what you all did to make that fit?

Finished it thursday night. After driving it a couple times tuesday and weds, and finding an electrical problem that was interfering with the ecu, it rips pretty good!. I drove it home from our shop (30 mins) and it felt good, no hickups.

Saturday was Club FR's first drift day of the season in Shawano WI. I drove out there with a couple buddys friday night...5 hours and change... beat the hell out of it on the track, and drove 5 hours and change home on saturday night.

And someone took a photo of it... Sorry no gopro, somewhere between the hotel and the track it got turned on....for 8ish hours...

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/17278961445_1d968f57e4_c.jpg

-exhaust is currently hanging too low, it tends to scrape,

-steering needs some changes, the column doesnt like to stay put...

-i should probably install the heater controls, it was a cold drive home...

one of my laps i got a little too close to the clipping point, and removed the front air dam

http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll341/theboyo19/Mobile%20Uploads/20150425_135731.jpg

I have an exedy oe replacement clutch and pressure plate on it as of now and i hate it. the pedal is so damn soft i can barely tell where it engages except when the car starts to move, cant really feel through the pedal at all. But that will be changing now as the front transmission seal decided to begin barfing shortly after i got there. At the end of the day the clutch started slipping after it got hot, but i did still drive it home, without incident. Im not sure yet but i think its gonna end up being an ACT heavy duty replacement

Ill post any other photos/ videos I stumble upon from the photographers that were there.

before you upgrade to the act read on the supra forums about crank walk with the 1 and 2j. lots of people ran them without issues but others swear they cause crank walk. When I need a clutch I'm prob gonna go with the dxd racing south bend clutch lots of good things I read. Edited by spadey

Awe man I should have went to Shawno. Would have been cool to see this thing in action. And yeah one of those corners you have to look out for the major curb they got. Done some autox and lapping days there. Edited by cheesey
