Idle bounce

Recommended Posts

I can't remember if the 86 has a MAP sensor on the firewall as well, but mine would bounce from about 900-1400 when I had a vacuum leak on it...once I replaced the small hose it went back to normal :)

Do the above and if that doesn't help then you need to check that the nose switch is working and sending a ground signal to the ECU when the throttle is closed. If the ECU doesn't get the signal it thinks you're cruising and will use the O2 sensor to adjust the fuel back and forth across 14.7 which makes the idle go up and down.
