strang3majik
Figured I'd share this here since I know there's some Mopar people on the board. Many of you know I have my 1985 Omni GLH I've been working on forever, well....I finally got all the parts for that car (all from the same guy off his GLHS Omni), and while I was there...he showed me this car. Then he mentioned it was for sale. Then, I drove it. Now its in my driveway It a 1987 Dodge Charger GLHS (Goes Like Hell Some'more). #820 of 1000. Body is solid as a rock. All suspension is brand new (Koni with Ground Controls). Engine only has a few thousand miles on it and its a screamer. Ran a 13.4 @ 105 on street tires. Needless to say, its a ball to drive. And its only on 12 psi stage 2 electronics. Engine was built by Forward Motion and according to them, with larger injectors, a 3 bar MAP, and a stage 5 computer (ups boost and timing/fuel curves), this engine should be in the 400whp territory. I can't imagine as its scary now in this tiny thing. Heavy wheel spin in third is retarded. Anyway...I'm in love with it. Its FWD, which sucks, but all its other attributes make me overlook that. Different wheels and a new stripe kit are in the future plans for this car. I'll leave it as is til it feels slow, then it'll be stage 5 time Anyway...here's the only pics I have as of yet (cell phone :/ ). I'll take some better ones tomorrow. And this just made me want to get my GLH done that much more. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/photo45_zps71efacb1.jpg http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/photo43_zpscbdb0f91.jpg
MotoCam360
That's pretty sick... I almost bought a blue one with silver stripes back in the day... between my Daytona Turbo and my first Conquest purchase..... but it just didn't work out, so I got the '87 tsi instead. Have fun with this beast!
natallica
I'm working on decal sets for the 86 GLHS right now Nice ride Dude! -N8
R.U.Serious
Nice! I use to own a 1987 Dodge Charger GLHS #266. I bought it from a friend but never got to enjoy it because the car sat for a couple of years and needed work (rusted floors etc.) and I wanted to convert it to rear wheel drive. But I decided not to because it was numbered car and sold it! Your GLHS has a tunnel and can be converted to rear wheel drive! Take a look at the back of the firewall and you will see a aluminum plate covering the tunnel that can be removed!.. But since it's a numbered car you don't want to do that! This is a cool site to join and have tons of info! http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/
dmyers151
Looks a lot like my old Daytona. I'd put some more subtle wheels on it and go eat some Ponies and Vettes.
strang3majik
Nate...not for a guy named Mike is it? Lol. And make me up a set for my 87! There's a guy that makes them but isn't real reliable on stocking called positive impressions out of Florida. Haven't checked with him yet. And yessir, been on Turbo-mopar longer than I've been on here...haha. Got my Omni back in May of 2008...didn't get my Conquest til August of the same year But yes, they were all meant to be RWD, but it was the era of economy being key, so Chrysler made them FWD instead. In Europe, a spin off of the Omni called the Sunbeam Talbot Lotus was made RWD and they were fast and shared the same chassis as the Omni...but were 2 door and rwd...lol And Dale...I have some better looking wheels I'm putting on it...the ones I actually got for the Omni...going to put them on til I find something else I like for it, then they're going on the Omni. But...still pretty sleeper status. My friend's dad has a supercharged Acura RSX making 330whp...last night he took off from me and I was glued to him. Pretty equal really. Not bad considering I spent less than $4k and he spent over $

Hopefully if all goes well, I'll have them laid out within the next week or so... been pretty hectic at work. -N8
TexasQuest
Wow that is a rare little shelby. Only year they offered the GLHS name on the charger, basically using the omni GLHS stuff on the last 1,000 built shelby chargers.
nfelge
Hey, if you ever need parts for these, hit me up! A guy in town has a handful of these in his parts yard (with about 6 abandoned Starquests too ). Awesome cars, if only they were RWD... -Nick Edited January 10, 2013 by nfelge

The valve cover and intake alone are rare. I keep saying I'll get pics up, but keep getting sidetracked...so just stay tuned everyone...lol Hey, if you ever need parts for these, hit me up! I'll let you know if I need anything! And yes, if only they were RWD :/ Traction would definitely be less of an issue.
TexasQuest
I'd love to build a sleeper turbo dodge someday like a beater sundance or something if I ever find time and money.

natallica
Just finished up setting these up from scratch for a the dude in Florida (Just noticed my colors are reversed on some of them, should be gradient white from top to black at the bottom, whoops!) and I know these are for an 86 GLHS Omni and not yours, but do you think there is a market for these (and other) designs on Turbododge or somewhere. May consider expanding my horizons http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03188.jpg -N8 Edited January 14, 2013 by natallica
tankbob
Looks like a mesh between a foxy mustang and a iroc camaro front, very clean looking car though.

strang3majik
Thanks again guys! I already broke it though In a wendys drive thru...pulled out and it sounded like a subaru. 55psi on cyl 4 :/ Looking into it now though. And nate, there would definitely be a market for those. Join Turbo-Mopar and Turbo Dodge and offer them up for sale.
strang3majik
Found out what broke. Cyl 1 - 140psiCyl 2 - 145psiCyl 3 - 145psiCyl 4 - 55psi Dropped some oil in...no change. Couldn't believe I blew a headgasket in less than a week. Popped the valve cover and found this. Half a lifter. So good but bad news. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/photo49.jpg
polarisman14
Do you know what happened to the other half or is that somewhere in the abyss? If you can locate all the parts of it I would say replace it and use break in oil in shorter periods for the next couple changes, maybe flush the oil passages/cooler if you can easily and call it good. strang3majik
Already found all the pieces. Thankfully all were right in the head...and she's already fixed up and driving.
