Intercooler Piping - Kit or Muffler Shop?

Recommended Posts

OK guys,

Which do you think is better / cheaper when it comes to Intercooler Piping on our MPI Builds. I am going with an aftermarked intercooler (sont sure of exact dmensions but it is the same as most people use on here). I have been weighing my options and have not made a decision yet as to taking it to a shop and having the tubing bent or just getting a kit. One thing to keep in mind is that I dont want to have to relocate the battery. Please post links to kits you have used and your likes dislikes.

Thanks,

Your best bet is to buy mandrel bends piece by piece. If you get a kit you'll end up doing that anyway. http://www.siliconeintakes.com/ and ebay is where I got all my stuff.

buying T-bolt clamps in bulk is a good idea if all your pipes are the same size.

I got all my stuff from cxracing.com, I bought one of their intercooler piping kits that looked like it had the bends I needed. The only extras I needed to buy were a 90 degree silicone 2" to 2.25" coupler for the turbo to IC piping and a 2.75" to 2.25" 60 degree silicone reducer to go from the TB to the IC piping. All in all it cost me a few hours of my time, $200 or less for the piping kit, shipped, and $75 and a few 6-packs of beer to my buddy who TIGs for GE.

Thanks everyone. looks like cxracing is the way to go. Now if I can just figure out which kit to start with :) so many options.

Everyone feel free to post any pictures of your intercooler piping work here. Thanks again for all of the support.

I got one of the 2.25" kits. Believe it was one with a couple 60 degree bends (or maybe 45) and a bunch of straight pieces, then 90 degree couplers and a couple straight ones. Do it up bud.
