Cooling issue

Recommended Posts

so driving to work this morning I glanced down to see her running hot. Over half way on the gauge. It's never been like that. Drove about a mile to my shop and she was way hot. The battery dummy light was on too. No fans I think. What could have happened? No fuses blown under the dash. Everything was just fine. Drove it yesterday. No problems.

What can I do? R/T UhG.

Have you checked the alt/coolant pump belt tension? I'd also clean every ground and electrical connector in the engine house. See the FSM chapter 8 for their locations. and use these two links for guides; http://starquest.i-x.net/viewtopic.php?t=916&sid=b00885a8588869b117a5add0f6e91cf7 and this one http://starquest.i-x.net/viewtopic.php?t=1180

What voltage is your dash volt meter staying at now?

For your brake light staying on: remove the brake fluid reservior cap and check the fluid level. It should be just a tiny bit below where the reservior top where it turns inward. There is a raised plastic extrusion line on the inner surface of the reservior at the proper level point.

Also make sure that the bellows in the top of the reservior cap is pushed back in so it allows the float to rise up to the level of the brake fluid.
