scubanut
Replacing the MC and all the hoses, 280z reservoirs, deleting the abs and going to dot 5 fluid. Any thoughts or comments on going to synthetic fluid. Some people say dot 5 won't mix with dot 3, but from what i've found` on the net, seems like they will. Is it brand spacific? scott87star
DOT 5 is silicon based and does not absorb moisture, DOT 3 and 4 are hydrocarbon based and like to absorb moisture which ruins them and must be flushed periodically. They do not mix but having both in your brake system doesn't cause problems, I had to change out my master on a cross country trip and couldn't find any 5 which I had been running so I used 4 and pretty much forgot about it until I put my bbk on earlier this year. I noticed I had two distinct fluids draining from the calipers and lines, the stock brakes with the ABS removed had been working normally. Having said that I would not recommend mixing them. Starting from fresh like you're planning you can run either form, just make sure everything is bone dry before you fill. Scott
scubanut
anyone know how much fluid is in our systems roughly? I was looking through the FSM this morning and didn't see the capacity listed!
BuGG
How did you get the 280z reservoirs? Junkyard? I have been trying to find them new but you have to buy the whole master cylinder.
